Just resubmitted for a new TPC quote and it’s really not bad, $1,739. Paid $3,100, so that hurts, but not unexpected I guess. Was trying to sell for I think $2,500 privately? I forget.
Would probably take that money and buy a new custom set of leg pads for hockey, tho.
I think that’s not terrible. Selling high value bikes used is really tough. Because expensive and no warranty.
Dat, plus nobody buying high level bikes these days.
Just fled blowing his “cheap HT” budget out of the water.
I might have to buy new cable disc brakes if I can't rebuild this caliper tomorrow.
The return spring shit itself on my last ride. Lever just flopping around. I was able to coax it to snap back after some time, and reconfigured the cable and the housing adjuster further inboard figuring the cable was getting hung up on the housing somehow. It worked, and got me home, but now it feels like I'm pulling the lever through gravel.
TRP Spyre calipers might happen. Would save 50g per axle, more aero, apparently stronger, dual piston.

I dunno man, it sounds like the whole bike is totaled to me.
Didn’t you hear the only way to buy a set of brakes now is on a complete bike?

I'm not super fond of these Hayes CX Expert brakes. They're fine. But I'm not super attached to them, and they look visually massive for some reason. TRPs are slimmer for sure. One cool thing though is the current calipers are bright polished.
