German Camry-initial impressions and further updates

All of this has been done. Insurance referred me to this bodyshop since they have some kind of gurantee with them. I actually know the shop etc, they seem good. But we all know how this goes, they will fuck something up here and there. I just don't want to 1. Drive in a fucked up car like this for ...

Every insurance co will take a recorded statement from both parties. Or all 3 in this case.

I'd just drive the Beemer if its still driveable. If you have same insurance that's good, it'll likely get resolved quicker. Good on you getting the police report. The fact that you didn't hit the car in front and he slammed both you AND the poor fuck in front of you goes to show he's at fault. Who...

So, if you don't get information from anyone, how does the insurance company? The police report? Yep, freedom of information act or whatever. Thanks Bush. You can only get the other party's information if it's willingly given to you. But the Police took the info so insurance will be able to get the...

Damn, sorry to see that Max. Hope the dude's insurance is legit and pays up for his fuckery. The shitty part is ... 1. I don't want my shit to go up 2. No one told me who is at fault... (99% sure I am not but you never know) 3. Police report will take "Up to two weeks" 4. I have no info f...

I fell down the rabbit hole of "I'll just fix this one thing and I'll be alright for years!" :derp: I was looking at cars, getting trade offers of like $10,500 for the GTI thinking man that's some bullshit. It was either keep this car, or trade it in and put some extra cash on top to get ...

It is super tough. Toughest part is I basically need a car. I work in an industrial area that's not well served by bus. So it's 15 mins by car or bike, or 45-1hr by bus. And since I need to be at work at 7AM that means waking up around 5AM and still includes walking about a mile and across a highwa...

I've had the car since December 1st 2016 or so. Coming up on 9 months. My commute is 3 miles each way. I don't drive it from Friday at 5:00 PM to Monday at 6:00 AM. It stays parked all weekend. If I need to go somewhere in the city I don't deal with parking and bullshit, I just take public transit ...

I was just randomly thinking about this today. It's a total :aintcare: ownership experience so far. No repair shop BS to deal with. No problems with the car. By this time in ownership my GTI required at least 1 dealer service visit for broken shit. Also :impressive: is I still haven't bottomed out ...

Yep. I can manage with the throttle as is. It's not horrible, but just unnecessarily touchy and requires concentration to drive smoothly. Something that's not super appealing at 6AM, lol. That was my number one complaint about my WRX, it was so unnecessarily boosted making most of the pedal travel ...

Yea, I guess I have a slightly different need. In the kitchen, garage, outside, etc...sound quality doesn't really matter that much. Noise in the kitchen, noise outside, noise in the garage...I wouldn't be able to tell the quality difference, TBH. Music is just so I have something in the background...

It was a used car. They probably looked at me thinking here comes a kid that just wants to hoon the car and can't afford it. I got a 10 minute around the block test drive. But it was enough to tell me the car had no steering feel and felt rather bland overall. That may or may not change with drive ...

Yeah I love this thing. Maybe next year I'll look into M235i's again. They were still pushing $40k for used ones when I was looking. Now they're getting closer to $30k. I don't think the STI is that bad though? It's a bit bouncy at low speeds but actually smooths out the shittiest stuff pretty nicely. The M235i definitely rode better than the STI. Not sure I care to have a super smooth ride in a sports mobile like this though. Hm. I should have put the M235i into ...
