Oh wow they are fully backing him on this … :disgust: Unfortunately not unexpected by a newer company.. easier to stiff-arm the consumer than to acknowledge you didn’t fully vet your “licensed installer”. :dat: I think he was actually just another installer up in New Hampshire. I looked up other vi...

Car Talk 6: Best of times and Worst of Times
So I’m making a list of sports cars that would be within each price bracket that are decent … 1. GR86 (30-40k) 2. Miata (30-40k) 3. Type R Shitvic (40-50k) 4. GT premium (50k) 5. M2 (60-70k) 6. C8 (70-80k) 7. M3 (75-85k) 8. F pace (78-84k) 9. Emira (90-110k) 10. Cayman GTS 4.0 (100-120k) 11. Carrer...

The rep wants me to give him another shot. They don't want to break trim which is why the fender badges weren't removed. Because apparently I'd be paying for replacements if they break it? So, taking it to a professional detailer and they don't trust themselves to remove this stuff? :really: Bubbles...

The fender badges seem particularly egregious to me. They're so easy to take off as there's no adhesive to remove or anything. Pros do it no problem. Don't give me bs about them snapping.
Now playing phone tag with a US rep from covrgard.

New stuff is supposed to be close to 10. Maybe longer if the car is kept out of the elements. Gotcha. Of course it hasn't been around long enough to find out. I think I remember seeing a post from detailers domain saying about 7 years. Not sure. Something with the adhesive maybe breaking down.

This situation sucks. It's no fun asking someone to start over but 3 grand is a lot of money for clear plastic film. It does suck but from his point of view maybe he should've done it right the first time? Don't rush jobs and overbook cars because this is the result. The fender badges are 3 clips. ...

Perfection is in his name after all. You could say he’s relentless. I think it’s pretty obvious he rushed my car though. If you look through his IG, he’s got a section of his garage further back that’s the “clean” section while my car sat out here by the door. Don’t know how much to make of it but i...

So far it's radio silence from Covrgard. I messaged them on their site and emailed them. Detailer of doom thinks I'm just dropping the car tomorrow for the b pillar. Should I give him a prior warning for all my issues or ream him out in person? Was planning to do it in person but then if he says he...

I mean, $30k for it is really tempting. What about Mk8 :gorf: ? Honestly? If I sell, it's not getting replaced right away. I'd be ditching the hooptie and replacing it with a nicer daily. Long-term, though, I'm just not interested in the MK8 at all. :( There's Elantra N for $33k. My brother loves h...

:pouroneout: It's definitely tempting. This car still feels like it's stuck in the middle for my use case. I would get more out of either having a sport sedan with a real back seat so I could take a kid or two comfortably, or having something that's more of an event to take out for nothing other th...

For nearly 3 grand this dude can pull the emblems and not get dirt underneath the film. I mean, the specks on the roof were plain as day when I saw them. How do you not take the extra 30 seconds to pull them out while squeegeeing? I also noticed the weather stripping on one side of the roof is tuck...

What about a C7 GS? Or are they too. Obviously less power but you still get the Z looks

You always say this. That doesn't stop a 1967 L72 427 on skinny bias ply tires from being a kick ass car, a 69 L88 Corvette from being a kick ass car, etc. These aren't dds, nobody puts 100K miles on them, they are made to get in, start it up, listen to the powah, and maybe get a little sideways, h...

I kind of wouldn't be surprised if the dude decides to ghost you ... also given the number of issues you've had with his work. I don't think there is a snowball chance in hell he won't fuck something else up in the process. I think it's time to cut your losses and find a super detailed PPF shop to ...

Yea honestly I don't know the level of detail these guys are supposed to get to. I have had PPF'd cars before and I would say that type of stuff is just "normal". The bubbles however... :nope: I do get that you've special ordered a special car and want it to be perfect. I just don't expec...
