Assuming I were to go through with this, what other gear is necessary? Helmet is obvious, but what should be considered for commuter rides (~1h15m each way)?

:ohdang: Thanks! Which of those do you think off the best bang for your buck? Obviously, cheaper would be easier to fit in the budget, but I also wouldn't want to skimp either. Either the Allez or the Crossrip. I think for what you want to do, the crossrip sounds good. But really just make sure shi...

5'11" with a 31-32" inseam, based on my jeans. ~200-205lbs, if it matters Commuting is likely the only scenario, unless I fall in love with it. I would definitely need something that I could put saddlebags (?) on in order to bring change of clothes, work bag, lunch, etc. daily. What's the budget? h...

Given my current knee issues, I can't squat as much as I'd like to so I'm looking for leg workout alternatives. Hypothetical situation: I start biking for my commute to work. What brands should I look at? Ideally, in the used market too ( Hartford, CT , if people are bored and feel like shopping CL...

As I alluded to the other day, I'm going to start working nutrition with Ballsawce. I just gotta get my starting pictures taken - prob tomorrow morning to get a fresh day's perspective. Looking forward to trimming up for the summer.

Do you even invest?

We use Fidelity cash management, very similar to Schwab it sounds like. Works outstanding. We still keep an account at a major bank for easy access to branches for the rare times you need a bunch of cash or a cashier's check or whatever. Can easily do electronic transfers from one bank to another. ...

Do you even invest?

Figured this would be a worthy thread for this question... My wife and I are looking for a new bank after dealing with some headaches with our current, Santander, especially with several fuck-ups on their part that led to us not being able to withdraw cash while in Europe and ultimately paying a hig...

Planning on putting this up for sale soon, but wanted to give DFD first dibs at it.

I think $150 shipped is reasonable.

#federaljerbs I've only done very light looking into it, but sounds like any employer in Cali can DQ you for a failed drug test since marijuana is still illegal on a federal level... I believe that is the case in all states that have legalized it. Though, I could likely be proved wrong with a Googl...

Back from vacation and motivated to stop making excuses and get lean - not bodybuilding lean like @SAWCE, but functionally lean. Speaking of him, might be working with him to do so. Just gotta talk the budgeting over with ze wifey and compare to other offerings. :like:

Career Chat

I didn't know about this thread till just now but I've been in the job hunt market lately. I'm looking to make a switch in career paths from software dev into pre-sales/solution engineering. Basically, a little lighter on the technical/head down type of work and more social interaction and presentat...

Wasn’t supposed to lift today since I donated blood, but I felt fine, so went in with michelle to her gym and hit a lighter weight high rep chest day. Felt surprisingly good. Didn’t get as big of a pump as normal, but still had a dude come over at the end of my workout and ask me about competing an...

All solid recommendations. The Crosstrek definitely crossed my mind since my wife has an Impreza, and they're essentially the same car just with a height difference.
I'll come and personally remove your :balls: if you go with a Crosstrek.

Not a requirement anymore, but it still is preferred. Though, based on my limited searching, it essentially just leaves the WRX if I want anything made within the last 5 years. If I were to pursue anything, I'm currently learning toward the A3 - similar to the GTI, but AWD. Nothing is set in stone ...

I mentioned this in OT, but figured I'd bring it here since it's more on topic to this thread. I'm thinking about replacing the GTI with an AWD car again. Though, my criteria is pretty limiting. Found this one: https://www.truecar.com/used-cars-for-sale/listing/WAUB8GFFXG1035801/2016-audi-a3/ If I w...

Both good insights, thanks guys. I was eyeing the Audi Q3 lately. I think the extra clearance would be nice, as Zilhuge mentioned. It'd give me a different feel with slightly more space than the GTI too. Q3 is a Tiguan in drag - and it's very old and doesn't have any more space than a GTI. Dates ba...
