Depending on how poor of condition the wood is in, I'd think about looking into composite. It brought new life to our deck (considering the old wood was beyond saving) and it'll be MUCH easier to maintain moving forward. For reference, if your display settings are different than mine.

DYELB: The Gainz Train

Been having some nagging L shoulder and elbow tenderness lately, especially during the front rack of cleans. Hoping some extra thoracic stretching will get that straightened out.

DYELB: The Gainz Train

I did a garage gym competition about a month ago for r/homegym (posted to instagram as a few of you probably saw) and was happy with the numbers I put up given my string of injuries that left me unable to really push near my max for 8+ months straight. I ended up with: 385 squat (best 405) 275 bench...

Thank you!! Very happy with how it turned out - and that I don't have to continue to work on it everyday after work. That was exhausting. How long did it take? I didn't follow the snaps. About 50 hours personally, including an ~8 hour day with a group of 6 people. I did the tear down myself after w...

Two paver stones to support the middle of the step. It has approx 3.5 ft spread between the two stair stringers being on the corner so I just put some there to absorb the weight. Going to put some toe kicks around the bottom to hide that/keep critters out. Also, adding lattice under the railing sec...

OT 14: One more than 13

I tried out Tinder, with no luck, back before I met my wife. Admittedly, though, I didn't try very hard because I wasn't seriously looking for someone at the time. When I met my wife, we both just happened to be at the same event for friends and it just clicked - right place at the right time kind ...

I can't really comment much about what to get her, but I'll elaborate on my own experience with my wedding ring. I didn't spend a ton of my wife's wedding ring, but I also got a pretty hefty discount because a friend that works at Stuller Settings https://www.stuller.com/ (they manufacture these bi...

First of all, congrats!! As @Calvinball, @4zilch, and others have said, I would recommend going smaller with higher quality (all 4 Cs). It'll shine, sparkle, etc more than if you went bigger with lower quality. My wife's is around .5 (.52, I think but not 100% sure anymore) with small side stones al...

The Sno Show - Tales of Wedding Fuckery

We did no kids/age requirement at our wedding too and I think some of our parent friends were happy about it. They could just be NFG at the wedding and have a blast while spending an extra ~50 for the babysitter (if a relative couldn't watch them). We invited no one under 18 and it ultimately led to...

In terms of color, I vote Misano blue > White > Wesuvio grey > Montecarlo blue. Also, thanks for reminding me that I still need to order my plate frames to replace the :dill: ones. I got some minimalist black metal ones on amazon. $10 for the pair and it came with mounting bolts and whatnot. :notba...

Just throwing my two cents into the mix - I'd personally keep the SS but then again, I'm starting to go into scrooge mode to minimize our monthly budget to have more vacation money. :iono:

I haven't seen any available in my area but it's a potential.

Realistically, nothing will probably happen. It was just a thought I had for lowering monthly expenses.

Hypothetically speaking, if I were to trade in the MK7, is there a used car that would be as fun (sporty), comfortable (bucket seats), good looking (superior interior w/ dat plaid), practical (30+ MPG), etc as the GTI, but with AWD that I should be looking into? The :scrooge: in me is thinking of l...

Fax's haus of gainz (& losses)

I've always thought it seems high too. The heart rate strap is nice for knowing your actual heart rate, but there is no way of knowing exactly how many calories you're burning. If you ever platuea on your weight loss, the first thing I'd do is half the number of calories that the strap says you bur...

Fax's haus of gainz (& losses)

Looks awesome! Glad to hear that the sheet I shared helped a bit with finding the right equipment. FWIW, your caloric estimate for an hour of lifting weights seems very high. I usually estimate about 350 for my 1.5 hr workouts. Where is the 800 coming from? Since I know you're trying to lose weight,...

The Bookworm thread aka whatcha reading

Finished Ready Player One in just over a week. Excellent read. I totally geeked out. While I knew there were going to be differences from the movie (which I saw before reading the book), I didn't expect as much of a difference as there was. While I loved both the book and movie - I think of it more ...

Now is a terrible time for the "I hate my job and want to do something new" bug to come fluttering back with the mortgage and whatnot. I would love to look for a new gig, even if it's something similar to what I'm doing now, but in a new environment, just to get some change. But I don't f...
