Car Talk 6: Best of times and Worst of Times
I want them to build Z06s non stop, so they'll be attainable on the used market in a couple of years. I think I've written off GT3s as ever being obtainable, but there's a chance enough Z06s are made that they'll depreciate quite a bit when the next hot thing comes out. It seems like a regular C8 w...

I just want a C8 with 10K on the hood. I want them to build Z06s non stop, so they'll be attainable on the used market in a couple of years. Who still goes to rooftop bars in their 30s? House party, bonfire in the back yard, hang out with friends without paying 4x what you should for your drinks, and when the kid is ready to sleep put the little bugger down in a pack and play inside. Laugh if you want I guess, but it's 100% on you if yo...

Rented a Mazderp3 last week. Pretty nice car, I quite like these. Mazda really nails the tech thing and just not going overboard in so many dumb ways. The old six speed auto, no touch screens, etc. feels refreshing as hell after so many convoluted rentals. Also, I averaged 35 MPG which was pretty s...

I had always thought the inserts in the front bumper cover pictured above were to cover up the nonexistent headlight washer option. After pulling the bumper I realized they were doors, and the SB does have a headlight washer system that automatically pops out of the doors. When, you ask? When the h...

That's a good idea. MDX isn't huge, but Acura seats are incredible. Our RDX was a good buy for the money. Few grand over the mainstream stuff, with only like 13k miles, but a much better car.

Got a nail in a tire this weekend. Luckily it was an easy plug. Been getting software updates at a rate of about 1/week now. They're slowly getting everyone caught up. There have been some leaks about new stuff coming to 7.0 that will hopefully happen in the next month or two. Looks like their first...

Probably Pilot. But I'd have a hard time pulling the trigger on one until they put the new Accord infotainment in. It has a comically small screen in it right now.
CX-90 would probably be my personal pick, but you get more bang for the buck with the Pilot.

I'm afraid the R3X will become like the Camaro and NSX. It's shown so far ahead of actual production, that by the time actual production starts, the design will feel dated.

This Lightning has been truly filled with :alpo: luck :fuckyeah: Kind of surprising the sound system sucks so hard, I feel like most of my American cars have had decent stereos. They all seem to cheap out on speakers, which is weird to me. Good speakers vs dirt cheap paper speakers is like <$100 mo...

A few updates: On a whim, I checked Reddit while getting ready for work the other day. Someone posted on the Lightning subreddit that he discovered they opened the reservation list for the free Tesla Supercharger adapter. Saw it like 15 minutes after he posted it and signed up. Press release goes ou...

:wap: Maybe I'm just old. I like how quiet it is. I wouldn't mind a slightly louder exhaust. Maybe like a Nameless Performance with the mufflers and everything. Probably don't want it enough to spend $1400 on it though. Life is expensive enough these days. No plans to track it as of now. I think I'...

You didn’t ask me… but I think yes. However, that’s only if you need the practicality. Type R is pretty impressive at/around MSRP, it’s light, fun, fast, reliable, and can do any dad/work/trip whatever stuff you throw at it. It’s basically what the M3 was in the E36 era. I think the 86 is pretty eq...

Do you find the BRZ too quiet without the shitty noise maker? I enjoy having the GR exhaust to drown out road noise and make some entertaining sounds. Any plans to track the BRZ or take it to the mountains or anything? There were actually some kinda cool roads near Cincinnati when I was there last ...

Updates on the cars: Installed the tonneau cover on the truck. Looks really nice, wasn't too awful to install. Zero impact on efficiency or anything, but that was expected. I also finished the dash cam install, so now I've got a front and rear camera that's all tucked in nice and tidy with no cables...

Sorry to hear about the van issues. But you're right here. Having your daily be the beater is much more stressful than the fun car being the beater. Sell the 86 and van, upgrade to a newer daily, pickup a used MR2 Spyder or something for cheap as a weekend toy.

It is hard to beat in terms of new sports car per dollar. BRZ Limited under invoice via supplier pricing is the play. Saves a grand or two more. Can't realistically get in a used, desirable Porsche that isn't beat to hell for cheaper. Anything faster isn't going to be appreciably more fun either. :...

Absolutely, hence why I said to start there. But it does indicate that you are less likely to be interfered with by the government, and that tax burden will be more reasonable. :lolgasm: , the lower tax burden in republican areas is certainly possible, but the government interference argument is a ...

12k off. But yea... :yikes: IMO it competes really well with a Prius. As a commuter or daily car it’s pretty perfect. Especially if you have a second, gas powered vehicle for longer trips. Like it’s perfect for me aside from being a bit small. But Julian has no legs so 🤷♂️ maybe it wouldn’t be so ...
