How life sucked donkey balls today: the :eeyore : thread

Here's how my whole weekend was ruined! Took off half the day Friday to start replacing the bushings in the wife's Kia that's clankety clanking. Read up on it, should just drop the trailing arm and keep it all connected to the car... push it out. I figured this would be difficult, but didn't want to...

New bearings came in today. Rod bearings and crank bearings. I went ahead and installed the crank bearings and checked the oil gap with plastigage. It's between .002"-.003" on all of them (max tolerance on these is +.004), so the crank that I'm replacing is good to go on the center mains. Next is to...

Damn son. Come to Lafayette. We got flooding too!
But no emissions. It'll feel like home because you can keep your humidity.

Luckily for me, I'd just remove the sink and do the work, and then put it back and reseal the outside edge. Less headaches. I think I installed our sink faucet with the sink already in. Wasn't too bad. But it's probably just an easier layout to work with. A couple of Benjis sounds like it's worth it...

Interesting Car Spotted Thread

I think a friend of mine figured it out for me. We think it's a Berkeley. He said it's likely a little Triumph motor. I said I wanted to throw a Rotary in it because it's likely all that will fit, then he suggested a Busa motor. Make it a prehistoric locust BRAPPPPING away. https://upload.wikimedia....

Interesting Car Spotted Thread

Does anyone know what kind of car this is? Some friends that we pet sit for have a slew of random old shit (husband is a personal mechanic for a few rich folk in the Houston area). They're moving to Arizona once they get their house over there renovated, and I've got a hunch that he's not going to w...

On another note, I ran the compression on the motor in the car. It's weak, and burns oil. I was expecting the rear cylinder to be way off. It feels like it's running on 3.5 cylinders. Doesn't really miss much, but it does have little bitty hiccups here and there and I think that the power loss is tu...

For some reason, I had a total brain fart on these spare engines I've got. Cliff notes is that when I bought the miata I got another engine in pieces for $100. Most of it's good, but some pieces are bad. I also have a motor from a friend's 1999 that he blew. All the blown 99 needed was the crank pol...

Cell phone / wireless discussion & deals

I'm still on the grand ole Samsung S5. I just can't justify spending even $400 on a new phone. Spending the outrageous default of $800+ on a new S9 or S10 or whatever the fuck's out now is just out of the question. I'm just paw paw like dat. I switched to Verizon a few years ago to cut my bill down....

Hero I bought the car from put a radio with a flip screen. It conveniently covers my AC vents. Thanks hero.
While I love the rear camera that I installed (holy fuckballs, it'll change your reverse parking game), I don't like having to close it when running the AC.

Those seats look nice, but I think the price seems a little high. I'm not keen to what they go for tho. For that price I'd think I could get some good aftermarket seats. I have a Corbeau racing seat in mine, so comfort is out the window. Also, my pedals slip a lot too when it rains. I'm aware of it ...

Actually I think we have our theme picked out. It's going to be somewhere along the lines of "THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY PERSONAL INJURY LAWYER GENTLEMEN" Where we vinyl up the side of the car with local personal injury lawyers dressed as superheros. There's gonna be shit like Flash Gordon McKerna...

But instead of keeping new parts from breaking, you're just re-breaking old broken shit. Think of the fun you'll have! :dat: I'm friends with a girl who's on a serious lemons team on the westcoast. She always shared pictures of them breaking stuff and "fixing" it with less broken stuff or whatever....

What's the verdict on this for a Lemons car? Looking to do an engine swap and convert to manual. Not sure what engines the MK3s really take well, but I'm all ears. Friend is interested as well (the guy who I'd be building the Lemons car with). He's a huge Toyota guy and knows Toyota engines pretty w...
