Zildor's Garage

I've been debating solar at some point on our camper, but I put the biggest battery the battery box can fit (a Group 29 IIRC) and we've yet to deplete it over a weekend. And that's old incandescent lights, running the water pump, etc. We'll challenge it when we run the furnace this fall :doe: How d...

Got word that my Gladiator is completed and currently in line to have the spray-in bed liner applied. With any luck, it'll be completed and shipped toward the end of the week, then it'll be a matter of how quickly the facility that handles leases can get it to me. :excited: :hubba: Should be there ...

I am really surprised that I don't miss the M3 much if at all, something about that car was just, not the best for DD'ing. I miss 2 things with that car, exhaust (about to be fixed), and back seat space... that's a real downside for me as I am currently in a clown car... Would be interesting to see...

My point is that ac pulls a ton of power and would require a large battery bank and a large array to charge depending on potential duty cycle. Even if your ac only pulls like 600 watts, and you get 24v battery array... That's a 25 amp draw. That will kill a two 100 ah battery array in 4 hours, ie n...

too much :troywax: for me. I talked it over with the wife. I like my :gorf: too much to let it go right now. I wouldn't pay $50k for it...but $50k is pushing the upper limits of what I'm willing to pay for any vehicle. Low $40k like we paid is more palatable. Still pricey :doe: We'll see how well i...

Yea, JL was better than the JK in almost every single if not every way. I can't think of an aspect that isn't better. Pretty remarkable, really. You mentioned in the review of your rental that the thing manages to feel special and unique which adds significantly to the "funness" of it. That's reall...

Does the 2.slow have issues maintaining 80? By that I mean, does the trans shift 8>7>6>7>8 a lot or no? The 3.6s was hunting a bit. Glad to hear you guys are liking it a lot. That's a great feeling, then again its an epic 50k+ :jeep: what's not to like. Not that I noticed, but I wasn't paying close...

Despite have an earlier R56, I agree with basically everything. One thing - your recommendation for a 2013 JCW would mean R56 and they’re less car than the F56, but also slightly more fun. The engine is a gamble however, especially if it’s a <2013 JCW or <2011 Poop S with the even more poopy N14. F...

In4 :truk: update Should be assembled today. :excited: Drove the JL for the first time yesterday, it's really quite great. Steering is tight and leagues better than the JK was. We drove 45 minutes on the highway doing about 80, and wind noise was surprisingly minimal. The road noise from tires or w...

That is :neat: and should make for some great adventures ! What kind of amenities are inside ? A mattress, audio w/BT and cockford foozgate speakers, AC with heat strips (not sure how effective those will be), but nice if the temps get down into the 40s I suppose. I'll look into retrofitting a heat...

One thing on the Mini handling, the steering is fast and turn in is pretty immediate. The rear end is also pretty light and it'll swing around a little bit if you get fresh with it. I felt the rear unloading and getting wiggly during hard braking. A little unnerving but also adds to the fun factor ...

And you don’t have to park in some foreign lot. A sports car is tough to own in your sitch. I had a dr. appt this morning so I got in late. The "competitive" lot in BFE was full, so I had to park on the roof of a 5 story parking garage (roof is only where competitive vehicles can park). By level 3,...

I posted gear ratios in my thread when you last asked. The trans is geared a bit weird with 4+ being overdrive gears on the :manuel: The MT gears are tall. You can go into 3rd on the highway to pass people. Partially why I got the auto. But the MT was actually great, far better than in a VAG produc...

The bmw without the better nav and dash is particularly tough, because you are constantly reminded that you “missed an option” The bro mode in the bmw sucks because it re...
