Car Talk 4: Gayges Gone Wild

Possibly .... the rav 4 will need nothing for 6/7 years other than tires and oil changes. Touareg May need a repair or 3 ... I'll take that as 3-5k in repairs, and lets say that mama saves 2k in fuel over 4 yrs. 6k chiseled off the price gap, add resale value and the Rav is worth 15k, T-reg worth 5...

So @detroit you may have a point, fca looks like it’s trying to make a :truk: move happen... 15k on the hood of ram 1500s so it must be the sales lever that was determined for the 4th, the others will be used to offset the drop in asps on the :trukvaganza:

Something really crazy is happening in my area, Avis is unloading a shit ton of 2018 jkus with 25/30k miles for 25k... must have at least 100+ in the greater area. :mindblown:

Rav 4 is probably going to be around 35.... All new, warranty plus fuel savings and maybe there is an arguement for something like that over a 4 yr old out of warranty truck like the touareg. Possibly .... the rav 4 will need nothing for 6/7 years other than tires and oil changes. Touareg May need ...

Depending on motor+ trans used, I'd say yes it is. Buying anything new over something that has 40k miles or less is ALWAYS more expensive, unless you're dealing with non depreciating vehicles as found in my thread. :themoreyouknow: Glad to see some things never change, I'm pretty ok keeping it unle...

I mean honestly... used car values are still relatively high... 25k+ tax... is about right... Tourags do fall straight to 3-5k in a few years, but you don't seem like you want to sell, So it is a nice vehicle at that price point. Anything with comparable features will be close to 35-40k new. This b...

If everyone likes it .... why not? Its not bad.. Would like to see how others fair with this task... buy back is going to be 25k plus tax (about 50% of new cost), 4 yrs old and 35-40k on the odometer so it might not be the best move. I might need to investigate this market segment, :disgust: :gag: ...

Ok some other minor updates... Looks like the average STI is getting 20mpg on fuelly The average WRX is getting 23 mpg, so ... the actual delta is only about 15% vs the 25% advertised. :wtf: I expected the average WRX to come in around 25+ which would have made it at least somewhat compelling, 3mpg ...

Jeeponomics 101: Eternal tirekicking for the trigger-less Jeep

I though we were discussing a different model, familiar with the 35s "fitting" the JLR. JLUR was designed to take 35s stock. Pretty amazing. If I did a Sport, that's when things get :fullretard: for 35s. Rubicon flares would get you most of the way, but would still need a lift if you weren't doing ...

I share this forum's contempt of women car buyers. Let me tell you a tale, which happened TODAY. Fresh news, brah. We have a dogsitter, Sarena.....she stays at our house every time we leave for the reasonable sum of $50/day. She is a caterer by trade, and always makes yummy stuff for us to arrive h...

35s+ lift is like 3k flushed down the toilet, stock rubi not capable enough ? 35s fit on a Rubicon with zero modifications. It's the only thing I would do to a Rubicon. I have no interest in lifts. I though we were discussing a different model, familiar with the 35s "fitting" the JLR.

How much are Rubi axles with employee pricing?
$3k. I'll do 35s with a JL, really want 4.10s for that.

Right which is why it pays (pun intended) to be in the base(ish) models, the base STI is "only" 4k apart from a WRX limited new. And they essentially have the same feature content. Which is why I am still considering it, however actual ASP remains TBD. I haven't seen any "markup" at the dealers whi...

It is my fault. I can get a new WRX for 28k, however that's the base model, that gen doesn't dip below 23-25k in the "used" market. However I wanted a limited (34k MSRP) or a Premium+Recaros (32,5k MSRP). Which go straight down to 23-25k in the used segment within 12 months. Options don't pay off t...

I thought it was FCA? This type of thing is super regional too, you get better service at a Chevy dealer than I do at bmw HG had a recall ... also the one I posted had the right one at the factory, because that’s hard to do. Yea, true...it's all super regional. My battle is less so with :dillerman:...
