Car talk tré: Carpocalypse Now!

I don't know everyone's situation, but for me this is true. In July I was actually just thinking I might use my December vest of RSUs and pay cash for a Turbo S and my upcoming trip to Hawaii. Today that same number of shares I sold this week would barely cover this GTS. We've all been hit by a 40%...

Re: :plac: Finds: Show us your automotive goldmines

I meant say 2009 Cayman vs 2014 Cayman or 2009 911 vs 2014 911. I can't afford or use an S model even though it's "not that much more" - a 9x1 is also "not that much more" than a 9x7.2 and a 911 is not that much more than a Cayman, but you add that all up and a 991 911S is at least double the price ...

Re: :plac: Finds: Show us your automotive goldmines

What are the 9x7.2 issues? I've never heard of any. Issue is it is 7-8 years older than a comparable cayman at the same price while offering 0 performance advantages. It's ~4 years, 2009-12 vs 2013-16, and they're smaller and lighter and at least a little cheaper with better steering. Performance i...

Our stock mazda3 is too low in the front to use the curbs as a wheel chock. You aren't supposed to do that anyway, that often means that your front bumper is in the walkspace in front of the curb.

Right. For the vast majority of people, image and perception are the only reasons to pick a Jeep Wrangler which, for a myriad of reasons, is a far inferior vehicle to those run of the mill CUVs for the type of driving most people will actually do. The thought of exploring the wilderness, or rugged ...

Taco Bell has never done that to me. Or Shipotle, surprisingly.

Probably because I eat so much tex-mex style food.
Home made stuff at pot lucks is the only thing that has ever really given me trouble, never restaurant food.

Part of it is not just renting vs buying but living in a 1000 sq ft place with 1 bathroom and a tiny kitchen vs 1800 sq ft with 400 sq ft garage and 400 sq ft attic and 2 bathrooms, plus freedom to put shelves on the walls, privacy from neighbors, etc. Most places for example don't seem to have pro...
