In all seriousness dude this will likely be the best $15K you ever spent in your life in terms of environment and mood improvement.

This was as far as I could take it myself. 2500 lbs of bullshit moved by just me. I couldn’t do more.
Johnny's favorite hobby was shaking out pieces of his inner city home on his morning walk.

I don't think any of those would work as Shawshank beams. They're all too thin.

Contractor bros took it down to bare studs in 2 days. They're hosses. Took 3 loads in their tiny dump truck thing though.

Today we finished insulation and are drywalling. Should be done with white box by July 4. Then I get to do the wardrobe things.

A few major upgrades:

1) No womp womp womp womp from the fan anymore
2) All our clothes in the master bedroom
3) Actually insulated room should be far warmer in the winter and a little cooler in the summer
4) 2 more outlets on the wall next to the bed
5) Center bedroom will be a legit nursery

So that's good. One upstairs knob and tube electrical fixture (hall light) will remain, which I'm kinda pissed about, but the rest has been changed out upstairs at least. Very little of that shit left in the house. Wish we could have taken care of it this time but they said it was going to be a massive pain in the ass with a lot of wall damage to change that one thing out so I noped on it. If/when we upgrade the bathroom we can fix the wiring then, it'll be more accessible.

I hadn't paid attention to this thread until now, checked the link and we have the exact same dining room chairs in the kitchen :mindblown: :gaydance:

I agree with the Desertman, that's 15k well spent, it is a pretty big job and needs the right skill sets.

Electrician dude sounds like he's in a rush... needs to slow down and check his work BEFORE announcing that he's done.

I'd throw an LED light in the hallway fixture so it doesn't draw much power and :aintcare: , it shouldn't heat the wiring with a 4-11W bulb attached hopefully.

I’ll snap some pics today if Diego’s guy is done before dark. It’s :amaze: in there now.

Sanding done. Floor coverings pulled up. Floors look good so no repairs. Looks good. But they didn’t fur the walls out at all so the room is now slightly larger than it was and “they don’t know if they can save the door” so I might have one mismatched door upstairs.

The guys mopped up in the room. And now I have a water stain in the middle of my living room ceiling which is sparkle popcorn finish.

I’m fucking done with any and all home projects. Fuck this.

What's the issue with the door? Isn't it just a matter of redoing the trim around the door to match the new wall dimensions?

I don’t quite understand what the “issue” is either.
They made the new wall thinner than the old one. So doorway needs to be thinner as well. I don’t know why they can’t just do it.

Yea I'd just have them remove the whole door, jamb, trim, everything, and trim down the jamb to the new wall thickness nfg. Doesn't seem that surmountable a problem.
Shit, they might even be able to trim the jamb down without removing it. :iono:

Or, alternately, just fill in the gap between the trim and the new wall depth with wood so the trim looks thicc if you look at it from the side and just :aintcare: because in a few weeks you'll stop noticing it anyway.

So now instead of an ugly stain, I have an ugly white spot.
Ugh.
Need an airbrush and someone that can paint match and feather it in.

yea you can't touch up celings unless it's the exact color out of the same can of paint and the paint is fresh. it's just a thing. I can't believe they even tried.
