I just fail to see how something that old and worn demands a huge premium over something new that performs better and is far more reliable and enjoyable.
I get the nostalgia for old stuff, but when you can’t use it because it’ll fall apart on the way to the grocery store, what’s the point ?

That M6 isn’t falling apart on the grocery store.

Yes it's a cool car. But prepare the lube/sawdust.

Would you take that or a 2018 M4 across country ? I have had 2 older bmws, a 1992 325is and a 2001m3 they were epic unreliable, unless you go full and re do it from the ground up, prepare for monthly fun surprises.

Cost aside, the 80s BMW's were not unreliable to the point sales suffered. They just need maintenance like any analog car from that era does. M6 is rare and good examples are probably tough to find. That one seems pretty nice given the age. Would be fun to test and get a feel for what it offers. Certainly looks comfortable and stylish.
For those that don't know what this is. It's basically a Westfalia top for a Wrangler. You can stand up in it, and the top is a sleeping loft. He added a rather pricey flat platform floor. Including his off road refrigerator and awning. $40k, so less than a new stock Rubi.

Too expensive for me but man that's cool.
Where does one sleep? I am confused ?
Also why would you need to stand up in an suv.

Don't think of it as an SUV anymore, think of it as a Winnebago. You could easily build a kitchen into it in the lower portion, and you're able to stand up to get changed or whatever. You sleep in the pop top, it's got a sleeping platform up there. It's a roof top tent with interior access.

I can’t visualize it, if you sleep on the roof ? How does it support 300/400lbs of weight on top of the porta potty?! How do you get up there ? How can u stand straight if the bed is where the roof is....
I just don’t think a has enough space for any of that
Googled it... doesn’t look like you can stand up, also quite a scary thing to be on top of that Porta potty covered by more Porta potty crap. Wouldn’t that damage the roof as well? That plastic isn’t structural at all
but I dunno 10k for this conversion for some random camping it seems. But at least it’s way cheaper than anything else that is as capable
I mean, this is what overlanding is. Some do it with a roof top tent, some do it with ground tents, some build these monster bugout 4wd vans with full kitchens in them. I think it's cool as hell.

delicas are super popular with that crowd...I've got some ideas to do the same, but long ways away from where I am now

Delicas are awesome. Nobody makes anything like that now. All the tiny dick vans are FWD with no ground clearance.
Scuffed bumper, classy windshield banner and dirty driver’s seat but dat Recaro
Color and price is
dang, I'd hit it.
I like my gti but its getting awfully long in the tooth. I'll need to decide soon if I'm riding that down to zero doll hairs or make a lateral move into some a little newer.
Honestly doe, for a daily the only things that interest me in the ~10k price range is another GTI, a focus st, fiesta st (but its realistically too smol), or a fiat 500 abarth (which is for sure too smol, and i might as well get a )

the fiat does have a usable back seat especially for kids.
