Did the 40th AE GTI get posted up? Looks nice. Dad sent me an article about it yesterday. Only thing I didn’t love were the 19” wheels with the time attack stripe around the rim.

Sister and BIL are considering hanging onto the Allroad, so if that doesn’t happen I’d be tempted to grab one of these. I’m pretty over the poverty H

19's are but should be easy to swap. Could probably make money selling them off.

My old 18s are still at my parents place.. if I get back into a VAG I’ll get them refinished and throw them on as long as no adapters or anything are needed.

They'll bolt right up. I had the same 18's on my Mk6, Mk7, and Mk7.5 before dumping them for OE pretoria's.

WRX street price is even below MSRP.
Civic SI is more expensive than WRX in the real world.

Markups will be a thing of the past before we know it. I can't get into specifics, but I work in automotive incentive optimization for a data company and our clients are very quickly returning to their old ways.

Hype R's and GR C's will always be because of limited production. Those cars are stupid. But the more volume sporty models will be attainable again.

I mean the data is clearly there already. Retail inventories are recovering rapidly... chip shortage is pretty much done, and most americans are too poor to pay 5-10% interest on a new car on top of a 20% msrp increase over the last 2 years. Simple economics.

Yet Honda in particular just seems to have decided not to build cars anymore.

I got that the other day, too. But I think it's for an internal fuel tank pump that moves fuel from one side of the tank to the other. It's the fuel tank suction jet pump.

I didn't even know this pump was a thing, let alone a common failure point.

Stage 1+ on an R is 446 hp.



Stage 1+ on a GTI is 361 hp.

Wild... a 361 HP GTI would certainly be interesting to drive. Fortunately they seem to have worked out most of the wheel hop and chronic understeer issues with the MK8 generation, but that is still a lot of power for FWD. I also wonder how much that impacts long term reliability, that must be a lot of boost to hit 200 HP/liter.



It's cool though, GTI with cash on the hood and huge powah.
