3/4 of the things I suggested... I suppose they kept the 4x4...

Why not just get a McLaren? If you're not a poor fuck, buy the best. We all have infinite money, right?max225 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2017 1:08 pmBruh the point of this thread is if you're not you can lease an M3 arguably one of the best DD's for the street.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2017 1:04 pm Autox isn't even close to racing, but it's fun and cheap.
It doesn't take much to make most cars significantly better to drive. Why not do that unless you're truly poor or a who doesn't care?

~850 a month is something most of us here can afford (Lease+insurance+fuel)...troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2017 1:11 pmWhy not just get a McLaren? If you're not a poor fuck, buy the best. We all have infinite money, right?
$3000 a month for the McLaren... not so much.

I guess I'll go back to the kids table, no fucking way will I ever spend that kind of money on a car again. I'm looking at <$300/mo all-in over 5 or so years in something that I enjoy driving. Something closer to this thread but still not quite there since I still give some fucks about driving.

<300/mo all in for something you enjoy? that's insanely difficult to do.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2017 1:24 pm

It is around $500 for me... cheapest thing I can come up with is a depreciated mini/gti which will run around $500
Anything else is just major cash money homey.

Not really. Put $10k into something fun and sell it for $4k after 5 years. $100/mo in depreciation/maintenance/modzzz keeps you under $300 with insurance+fuel.

5 years tho... I'd like to stay at 2. If you keep anything long enough it'll be cheap.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2017 1:32 pm Not really. Put $10k into something fun and sell it for $4k after 5 years. $100/mo in depreciation/maintenance/modzzz keeps you under $300 with insurance+fuel.

Still not really the case. You're into shit which depreciates at insane rates and has higher maintenance/consumable costs. $25k BMW will be worth $5k in 5 years and likely require $5k in repairs. You've just blown $25k vs the $6k in my cheap car example.max225 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2017 1:33 pm5 years tho... I'd like to stay at 2. You have to start with something cheap because everything depreciates down to end up around $5k for a decent working vehicle... unless it's a or or car or 911.

It is always better to start with a 5k vehicle even a will blow 4k in taxes alone in the first year... then higher registration fees, full insurance etc.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2017 1:39 pmStill not really the case. I'm glad that so many people feel the need to buy new cars, it ensures a decent supply of used ones for me.

The $5k range opens a lot of really decent options. Sub $2k is just straight hooptie status really.

Looks pretty clean and should give you another 100k miles with proper maintenance.
And it's pre- beak.

This could be another cool thread, Best non embarrassing Transport for the money. But it becomes really individualized... lots of personal preferenceJohnny_P wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2017 8:12 am https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto ... 22005.html

Yeah I started seeing decent cars at about $2500... which is about what the Vibe is worth so it's pointless tomax225 wrote:This could be another cool thread, Best non embarrassing Transport for the money. Post em up? That’s still pretty cheap. I was looking into some older benz models, yet they are around $7500. Is also looked into some Buick’s, they would make epic cruisers with the bulletproof 3800. But they’re impossible to find outside of the ghetto at this point.troyguitar wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2017 11:19 amYeah I started seeing decent cars at about $2500... which is about what the Vibe is worth so it's pointless tomax225 wrote: This could be another cool thread, Best non embarrassing Transport for the money. Pretty looking, but those issues it has would drive me insane. Radio forgets channels, wiper spray doesn't work, intermittent AC, intermittent speedometer, intermittent gas gauge..... POVERTY.max225 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2017 11:33 am https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/d/ ... 56613.html

It’s $1700 ?! Do you expect perfection ? All paint is there it drives good and it has no tears, maintenance etc that’s insane for the price pointJohnny_P wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2017 11:53 amPretty looking, but those issues it has would drive me insane. I wouldn't want to put up with that. Cheap be damned I have standards which include a working air conditioner and things like working gauges.

$1700 is not for you... I am sure the issues can be addressed on the cheap. That is an expectation for a vehicle.
I'd swap the HU for a stock one $50
Likely recharge AC $20 the compressor cycles out due to low freon
Working gayges may need some investigating but frankly I wouldn't truly care.
$1700 and it isn't a disgusting POS to look at. That's really uncommon.

I was looking at more like 10ish year old murican econoboxes with that weren't beat to shit. Think Ion/G5/Brobalt/Focus.
You could probably also get a first Gen Mazda6 V6 cheap-ish but all of this stuff is a hunt for the one owner who cared about the car.
