Old school performance cars do little for me ... as they have about same performance as a modern hatch. But I think they just have so much style and presence, also amazing interiors with tons of space.
I always loved the 2nd gen Continental. Would be an awesome Sunday cruise car. Other than that I've got a sweet spot for old Alfas that would probably be hell to actually own.

It's not so much about the performance as it is the experience.
The sounds, the smells, the feelings.
Something about an old Porsche flat six that makes your neck hairs stand on end. Or an older Ferrari. Older engines just... sounded magical.

Pretty sure his DSG GTI is faster, lol. BUT. This car is pretty rad. It makes all the right sounds, the shifter is gated and impossibly hard to use, you can't adjust the steering wheel and as such basically bash your knuckles into the top of the gauge binnacle, you sit stupid low and really reclined, it's an unnatural driving position, and the handling is best described as "scary."
It really feels like to push this thing at all you need a serious pair of balls. It feels special.
of all the races I've gone to, the vintage one was the best hands down. The cars sound incredible, even the 4 bangers, they're slow, and no TC and old suspension systems mean they get squirrely under braking and slide a bit on the turns. Very entertaining to watch. Also. They really push the hell out of the cars, it's impressive.
I love to look at and hear old cars, but that's where it stops. Been there, done that.

Take a look at CLA 45 AMG now, 300 hp out of a 4 banger. We have come a long way.

Yeah its not fast. Really his MK6 is probably just as quick.
This is why old cars are mostly stupid propositions. New cars are faster, more reliable, better built, quieter, handle better....
Thing is, the 308 feels really special when you're driving it. It's not the best to drive overall, but the theater this car puts on is incredible and very entertaining.
