I wonder if DPlac, Johnny_W, Pecs, and me will continue to be ranked 1 through 4 in post count forever, or if someone will come on strong and blow us away?

I post way too much. Someone would have to come blow me out of the water, or me quit. Neither are likely to happen.

I carry $5k because I'd rather save the premium for when I need it than pay the insurance company all the time.

That's not a bad strategy really. For us, we used to have a $1k deductible, but when we switched our home and auto insurance to AAA our combined savings was over $800/year with the $500 deductible and car rental coverage added in (which we didn't have before). Going up to $1k deductible only saved us a few more doll hairs so we figured why not just leave it at $500?

That seems You mean Progressive auto + home or State Farm home + auto is more expensive than Progressive auto + State Farm home?

What about Allstate or Farmers or AAA? Or someone small and local?
