Dunno, $500 more for 3 extra lbs and mostly the "same" spec seems hard to swallow? 18 lbs on the Wally World bike sounds :fuckyeah: to me.
If your car had a Dongfeng badge would you have bought it? Same discussion. The reality is it doesn’t really matter much at all. If you have an issue with it you might have a hard time getting warranty work. But people have been building bikes up from cheap Ali express Chinese frames for years now with no problems and saving an assload so :iono:

All the factories steal the IP from the companies that use them anyway. You’re probably getting a frame that’s 90% the same as a Giant or whatever. But supporting companies that operate like that.

For me, I think something like a Rove would be rad.
Just depends on what you want to do with it.
If I was buying something, I’d check with Repp on what gearing I would need first for the terrain around me.

Easy enough to change things on that bike being 1x. As is it’s pretty well set up for easier single track.

I mean I get the idea, but 18 vs 21 lbs is yuge, especially for a lot less money. :iono: :wrong:

Oh man they sell this in green.

I could have three green bikes. In different shades.

I’m going to have to trade in the :taco: for a TuRD Pro.

Do these type of things actually work? Seems like a lot of "gravel" bikes are coming with similar things from the factory now:

They should be somewhat effective at smoothing our big sharp hits but probably do fuck all for smaller vibrations.

I am definitely considering it once the Beemah sells. :notsure: where to begin though. Gravel bikes seem like all the rage. However, where my house is and the trails I ride are, all are either close enough that I can just ride my MTB or far enough that I'd need to drive regardless. I don't see actually riding on trails with anything other than my MTB but would like to be able to go on sidewalks, gravel roads, etc. occasionally.

Something like a specialized diverge would be great. Mostly a road bike. You can put bigger tires on it if you want to.

:word:

:notsure: even on what frame type.. that bike ranges from $1K to $10K :lolol:

I think my plan will still probably be to wait and see how COVID plays out, curious how much I would use a :nice: road bike post all this shit if I'm back in the office. I will still commute via bike if I do but :notsure: if I'd want to leave a really expensive bike sitting outside at the office all day every day.

I think I will do a proper fitting at a shop and stuff :doe: I like this yellow one https://www.specialized.com/us/en/diver ... 96220-6044 :jimp:

I like that a lot... more in the range I'd prefer to spend. The thing is though, I just don't know a ton about bikes. I don't mind spending $3K if I'm really going to continue riding 50-100 miles/week. I seem to use bikes more than cars now or anything else I own besides my house. But I am kind of :butwhy: on spending huge money when I don't care about being the top record holder on Strava or anything like that.

I guess it's time to start researching, maybe eventually test ride some things and see what sort of fitment I'd need. At seems like road bikes differ less in geometry and stuff than mountain bikes. After riding my friend's Giant MTB a month or two ago I was :mindblown: at how it was absolutely nothing like my Orbea. Every bump that thing just wanted to launch into the air whereas mine is just kind of planted and makes it relatively easy to mow over things. The gearing on it also made any road riding prohibitive. I like that my mountain bike can be ridden a few miles on the road to trails without it being a major struggle.

I'm not even sure what to look for with a road bike. I just want a fun color :lolol:

Should be some good things in the 2k arena. They might be aluminum but that’s fine. Aluminum bikes can ride great too. Most of the compliance is in the tires anyway.
