I think it's safe to say that the home improvements should match the value of a house. If a place costs 80k and doesn't ho up in value yoy then don't spend 2k on a gate, but if it warrants a hefty buy in then that gate will bring the curb appeal to a standard that suits the buyer. If you're possibly selling in 5 years then fix your shit Dirk!

FWIW we are only in number 2... and we went from a $270k with 300 miles a day of commuting back down to a $150k one with 40 miles a day of commuting and a temporary 30% pay cut. I try not to be a hypocrite. Pouring stupid amounts of money and time into a house is stupid.

The switch is starting to flip for me now that I've got the - next career move will hopefully give me some aim towards retirement and knowledge of how to attain it.
I think you're one career move from being in really good shape to begin your climb up mountain.

C is for Captain, and team Captains have a C patch on their jersey.
So does it stand for Chicago or Captain.

Solid upgrade. I might steal this concept to build a side door for Bag End. There's an arched entrance to the area where the dog that's now just a nasty chain link thing. Wife has been interested in upgrading that for a while, we were just never sure with what. That would do it.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 8:31 pm New side gate to right of garage:

When the smoke cleared this nasty bitch was $2K, installed with garage doors. The old one sucked, that was what came with the house 25 years ago. The "salmon" strip on the wall sucks, some neighbors are slowly just painting theirs "cream" or whatever the wall color is. Will paint the front door dark brown soon and the side garage door I just installed and painted "chocolate".....you can see it back there, will now need newer dark brown shade. That's the next post on here. It adds a lot of curb appeal. They are becoming very liberal with what color you can paint your house, and we will go with a darker brown tone soon. Upward and onward.
5/7 upgrade.

I am the house captain. Nobody can keep up with me.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 9:17 pm The only reason I posted the price because others asked about the other. I don't update my house every week like Detroit, just trying to keep up.
Just had the $2,500 RANGE delivered and installed yesterday. I installed the $750 dishwasher we didn't need while that was going on. Today we swap out the fridge with the one we got as Sears outlet for an eye-watering $1,500. Nearly $5k in appliances in a month. What a moran. We'll be broke and poor the rest of our lives. #yolo
