Is it still if I'm just waiting to hand them a check? Maybe I don't know how works.
It's a 2013 EX-L with the rear entertainment system. 132k, but one owner and drives beautifully. A bunch of recent maintenance including new shocks all around, new front control arms, and a new steering rack and tie rod ends. It has not had the timing belt and water pump service done, so I'm going to need to get that done ASAP. I'm paying too much, $16,500 out the door, but this is easily the nicest one I've driven and it isn't all that close.

I think since the honderp and acura powertrain are related you can do a quick drain and fill yourself. It’s actually easier than an oil change on these things. Just make sure to buy the overpriced $10 a quart honderp fluid at the stealer… all you need is 3 quarts every 30k miles or so

The t-belt not being done was my leverage to negotiate on the price a little bit. Based on their list price it would have been ~$17,300 OTD with taxes and the doc fee and shit, and I got them to $16,500. The job will cost about $1,200, doe.

A double edged sword for sure. Nice work on keeping the sports car popster.coogles wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 1:30 pmDesertbreh wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 1:30 pm 17 grand for a minivan with 132K miles on it. What a time to be alive.

Hell yeah! This is a huge win. It’s 10 years old but still 1/3 the price, nice color, looks like a solid van. My parent’s Odyssey lasted 250k miles pretty much flawlessly other than transmission replacements, and I think that issue was lately addressed. I’d definitely pump and dump the fluid like Max suggested though.

By the end of the 5 speed era (this is the very last year), they were pretty good from what I understand. I actually think the 5 speed shifts better than the 6 speed, a LOT of those that I've driven have had some stuttering on upshifts. I'll still change all the fluids, doe. Can't hurt, and it's nice to start fresh and know everything is done.

trans going out on v6 models seems to be the norm for hondas. Other than that, id go for it.max225 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 12:44 pmMake sure that trans was serviced also. First mod for the Odyssey has been ordered before the first mod for the GR86.
It's a VCM (variable cylinder management) delete. Fancy resistor in a harness. But the VCM system in these things causes ALL sorts of issues.

Timing belt and water pump service is scheduled for the 19th. After that she should be good to go.

Man, those early "variable displacement" systems really sucked. GM had issues with early DoD systems where people have to swap out the cam and lifters to address. Lucky you can get rid of it proactively with just a plug in.coogles wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 3:22 pm First mod for the Odyssey has been ordered before the first mod for the GR86.

The worst thing though, is they have no real impact on efficiency. It was all just a play to look better to the EPA since the feature itself gets credit.
