I think a lot of people view Ellis as this big flat torque curve but 4500-Redline is really where the "Holy Shit" happens.

Not in stock form, at least with an LS1. It used to fall on it's face above 5k. Now with the free flowing heads and more aggressive cam, 5k is just getting started. I love it.

Forgot to mention, dad offered to pay for a dyno tune for my birthday. I think I'm going to take it to Livernois, which is generally regarded as one of the best in the region. Calling around today.

Livernois wants $1k to tune the car. Apparently, they spend 2 days with it on the street then another 1-2 days on the dyno.

I'm sure it would end up great, but holy shit.

Gotta pay to play, etc...I get that. But my former Jesus tuner (who has ghosted me) charged $300. Another highly recommended shop quoted me $200 for the dyno and +$100 to do any additional street tuning I need. They said starting from scratch would be $500. $1k is insanity.

Dad's paying for it (still not 100% sure why), and he told me to just spend the cash at Livernois...but damn.

The going rate is normally around $500 I thought... but with the recent :derp: s coming to some disposable money everyone is raising prices

Hell, I only paid the dude $150 to get a base tune on the car plus the WOT and drivability stuff. If he had a dyno, I'd take it back to him.

You don't hear of too many tuners putting this kind of labor into a tune. If Dad is cool with it, then you're set. You can't really go with half ass at this point.

Is there another really solid tuner for less money in the area anyways?

The guy I took the car to a few years ago when I did headers is generally regarded as the best. But he's completely ghosted me, so I guess he's out. There's another shop that specializes in LS builds and tuning that comes highly recommended on local facespace LS groups, and I'm talking to him about everything. $500 to start from scratch, or about $300 to pick up where I left off with the other guy. This is the :scrooge: option, but :iono:

Livernois is massive, and they didn't get that way by being shitty. I'm sure the tune would be perfect, but a lot of their cost has to be because of their overhead. Paying for the name, if you will.

$1k is just a ton to spend on a tune. Dad doesn't care, but this is the man that raised me to :scrooge: so I'm having trouble adjusting to his recent :waxer: ways.
