Got the pvc pipe in today. Lot of work but it works fantastic. This is going to be a major improvement to the current lack of drainage and sump pump basically emptying into itself.

I had to run drainer pipes in my backyard to protect new interlocking that was scheduled to go in shortly afterwards. It made a huge difference to the water drainage in the backyard. 5/7 improvement

finished second coat of poly on my office floor today. Lighter picture is after sanding before -- floor was covered in heavy shag carpet and the hardwood underneath was in really bad shape (gouged, lots of dirt and paint on it). It's looking pretty good, my first floor work by hand in the house and gotta say I'm pretty impressed.

Wow been a while since I updated this...The floor pictured above looked great but I decided to put a layer of dark eng hardwood on it, along with the rest of the top floor (which also matches our ground floor). So the whole house will have new engineered hardwood throughout.
This weekend, started in on the bathroom which was an awful tan on tan on beige with a black tile shower (which had buckled because fuck, why would the POs do a job right?). Metal lath with 2 inches of cement, then mortar, then tile. Probably hauled a couple hundred pounds out already, nasty stuff.

making good progress on the skylight finishing work...unfortunately the guys who installed them really messed up the existing drywall, and the 2x10s they framed them in are not perfectly straight. A lot of my effort has gone into getting close to perfect 90s in the corners.

I had to redo it all, the valve wasnt recessed enough, so I just ended up reframing the whole area to get everything just right. I have 2 inches between the studs and where the tile needs to sit. I will feather with 1 inch over the existing studs, then 1/2 inch hardiebacker, thinset and a 5/16" tile gets me within 1/4" or so.
