Smart-ass comments from our fearless leader keep getting him in trouble and we all suffer for it. He peacocked Trump after a vital negotiation and tried to play hardball on the tariff front with no real game. If Trudeau doesn't fix this he will be on his ass come next election.
For me this poses a pro and con, on the positive side a weak economy is an excuse for low interest rates, but negative could be that the auto industry in Ontario will take a beating to the point of no repair. All because of some dipshit who doesn't know how to play politics.
But that's not really the whole story here. Trump is killing farmers here with his trade policies to the point he is having to bail them out. That's not sustainable.

So true. Two to tango rhetoric. Still think the game was played best by Junker who came home with a great EU deal. Carrot was the soy bean contract which fixes the farmer thing. Trudeau is a moran so we don't have success stories to speak of.

Really? I think he has a decent rep down here. I know I'd take him over Herr Cheeto 5 out of 7 trimes.

He keeps putting his foot in his mouth when it counts most. If the EU can cut a trade deal and this kid blunders the largest shared border of in the world between two countries that share the same cultures, beliefs, and interests then it speaks volumes of him

Some interdasting news from the steel industry in Canada; Since the tariff was implemented the local manufacturers (Stelco, Dofasco) are experiencing booming profits. Turns out that without competition from the US they could raise their prices. if or

That's the rub. Good for those industries but who is buying at the higher price? Everyone who needs steel in Canada. And I'm pretty sure the laws of gravity work the same in the great white North as they do down here and therefore shit will still roll downhill on to the consumer of goods produced in buildings that use the steel that cost more to procure..
Now free trade has its own consequences. Why build a widget in the US for 3.50 and sell it for 5 when you can have some 3 fingered 12 year old build it in Vietnam for 50 cents and the ship it back to the US without penalties and sell it for 5 bucks? Capitalism works best when there are labor markets to exploit.
