Why haven't they put the 8AT in it? Size? Durability?

The 5-speed auto was alright. Not fantastic but it worked ok. Going fast isn't in the cards regardless.
I wouldn't get the MT. I see the reason if you're trekking across Africa. But I wouldn't be, so it's not necessary.

All it needs is an updated transmission and interior. :iono: I guess its getting the structural changes so it can pass crash test?

Sand colored sport model with automatic, hard top, and 3.73 axles would be good. Maybe with the Trak Lock differential, maybe not. Doesn't need much else.

I'm really  that I couldn't deal with the ride of the thing. Too floaty for me. The 2 door was better for me as it rode firmer, but ain't got no room for the bike in there so :nope:

I think the auto is much better trailing than the 6mt. I had the 6mt in my last rubicon and trailing it was a task. Especially in the rocks. The auto is much better. I'm rolling 37s now with my auto. Had 35s in the 6mt. 3.73 now and 4.10 then. Will be doing 4.88s once I get a daily. The ability to select the gear manually and it stay in said gear with no clutch work is amazing.

Floaty compared to what ? It seemed fine to me... big tires do isolate more from the road

That and the kind of side to side shimmy as you plow over an uneven surface.

8 Speed
3.0 Diesel if it passes... (considering current issues unlikely)
2.0 :jalepenis: engine for the plebes...

Reveal is pretty soon... I am very curious about it... however first year FCA product... :nope:

I've only ever driven the YJ model (square headlights) and I thought the :manuel: was fine for a TRUCK. I imagine the new ones feel the same but with some POWAAAHHH :notbad:

I would only mall crawl/camp/light duty trails, so NFG about that.

There is no power.... especially with 3.21 gears...

The 3.6 is not very well suited for low end power.

I really liked the 3.6 with 4.10's in the Rubi. Even the :manuel: was decent...but I'd go auto if I got one again.

3.6 Pentastar with the 5AT and 3.73's felt fine to me :iono: The engine has to rev a bit to make power but it got moving just fine. I think its technically capable of 7.5 seconds to 60 which is pretty damn fast for something with an ox cart suspension system. In reality I doubt I'd ever accelerate faster than about 10 seconds to 60. :stig: is not the point of this truck.

The lack of refinement in the jk made it feel like an ox Cart when accelerating at normal speeds ... lots of nvh from the engine that has to go to 4000 to keep up with traffic... with the manual ...
The torque converter multiplies the torque and makes it feel much better
