The hurricane is headed our way. So far a lot of rain and moderately strong wind, lots of tree branches down in our yard but not much else.
Anyone have friends/family in FL that were heavily impacted.
Hopefully and his FL Man Paradise weren't too effected.

Last day of the month and I'm at 70% of my revenue quota... what does that mean? No commission for me this month.

My 'rents are in Ormond Beach area (slightly North of Daytona), they got some flooding around them but not on their street, they are at the center of the peninsula which has saved the property may times before. They stayed at the house during the worst of it, didn't get much sleep and it was windy AF but not much damage afterwards. The neighbor had some soffit separate, and a section of fence that's fallen before go down again. My parents have one large palm tree that they are hoping to save, but that's about it. The storm did most of the damage on the west coast, and very little where they live.
Good luck with it, hopefully you're safe and the city/street doesn't incur much damage.

I did not know this. That’s pretty sweet. Some locomotives could burn 11 tons of coal an hour.wap wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 2:23 pmThe more advanced large locomotives had Archimedes screws to automatically feed coal from the coal car to the fire box.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 1:51 pm Yes steam trains are great. Big rolling steam boilers. Pretty wild to think of now. The amount of coal one had to shovel was immense. And the amount of water they used. Just wild.
My kid spent 20 mis watching trolley videos yesterday lol. Just trolleys going around on city streets.

I guess? I mean, I was handed a lot of this year; managing a satellite ware 3 days/week with shitty hours, on top of all my previous responsibilities and no pay bump when they gave me the building. And a raise that's 1/3 inflation rate is like a pay cut.
It better be a damn good bonus in December.

Ever been to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn? They have these big fuckers INSIDE. Then in Greenfield village next door, they have a fully operating roundhouse that you can walk through and see all around a steam engine under repair including underneath. It's insane.wap wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 3:37 pm

There’s a great train museum in Strasburg which is like an hour and a half outside Philly. They have a working steam engine train as well as a ton of locomotives inside a big building.wap wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 3:37 pm

Come to think of it, it may have been at the HF museum that I saw teh Archimedes screw in the coal car. But that Mnpls museum is 5/7 as well. JP Jr. would lose his shit in either of them.

You used to be able to climb up into one of those big ones in the museum, and IIRC the last time I did there was an apparatus that fed coal from the coal car to the boiler.wap wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 4:20 pmI have been!Detroit wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 3:50 pm

Any museum with trains is IMO. Trains are awesome.

Yep, that must be where I saw the Archimedes screw. We must have climbed into the same train.
We have this awesome beast at our Museum of Science and Industry here in Chicago:
Early diesel locomotive from the 1930's that is absolute beautiful.

Seems all good here, we got a shit ton of rain, wind, downed branches and leaves, but no significant damage.Tar wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 2:56 pmMy 'rents are in Ormond Beach area (slightly North of Daytona), they got some flooding around them but not on their street, they are at the center of the peninsula which has saved the property may times before. This was also a transportation museum, in Duluth, MN, which is an interesting part of the country to visit:
