I get to drive my mom's 2012 C250 until 2/24, they are in FL., after that I'll share with the wife unit or rent something interesting for S&G
Oh interesting..

What is the time estimate again for the Camry ?

Oh shit a 2018 ?! :yikes: does it still have a warranty ?

I :member: the HyunDAZE warranty only being applicable to the first owner and a ton of exclusions for that 10/100
Still has a warranty. I need to dig that paperwork out this weekend and get something scheduled with the :dillerman:

I don’t… consumers unwilling to vote with their wallet are the crux of this problem. Consumers set the prices not :dillerman:
Consumers HAVE TO HAVE NEW CARS because they refuse to maintain them even a LITTLE. AAAAAGH. Interior ruined by too many sippy cup spills and dead french fries!!!! MUST HAVE NEW 50K HONDA. They get what they deserve.
Lots of reasons. People lease cars. Cars start to fall apart and break down or need more work than they are worth. Life situations change. Etc.

Curious what sort of "warranty" it has... also careful :dillerman: tends to blame all clutch work on "wear and tear" after 12k miles.

245k miles, no fluid left in the engine mounts, the dimming fluid leaked in the passenger side mirror, the clear coat is worn off the driver's door frame up top, may or may not have a boost leak when warmed up, and the CD player doesn't like bumps.

So all your miles are split 50/50?

245k miles just for my curiosity sake unrelated to this thread, original engine? turbos ? 5th? timing belt?

Weather permitting I do two weeks on/off with both cars. Favoring the S4 during winter, and the Corvette during summer. I bought the S4 with 222k miles in summer of '20. The original owner owned it until winter of '19 and it's bone stock besides the BT module that replaces the CD changer input. It has the OG first aid kid, road triangle, jumper cables, and LoJack card :notbad:

But I still think 99% of members here wouldn't touch it.

I'd drive it across country without a worry. Maybe a coolant flush or something if it was during the summer but other than that I put 5000 miles on it last April and it ain't care.

Wherever Dan stops traveling like he has a Gulfstream jet I'll let him drive it for :science:

There seems to be a divide in how "SHITTY" is viewed though. Who among us, (once he fixes the engine mounts for the love of the Virgin Mary and all the Saints) who not rather drive a well maintained 2001 Audi S4 from the most glorious era of blocky Eurodesign than a Hyundai Elantra of any era?

I've had engine, trans, and dif mounts in my closet for a year, but "book time" on the engine mounts is 21hrs.

Safe to say I'm not in a hurry :lolol:

I agree though the definition of "shitty" is up to the individual. Our old euro "shit boxes" drive amazing down the highway. Better than most new cars.

Phew, almost done digging myself out of another administrative nightmare, thanks to OPs who go idle minded for 98% of their working careers and then panic last minute.

You ask a good question that deserved a call to the salesman. I was curious about how things were unfolding yesterday, but didn't have the time to call then.

So the status has been changed over from in build sequence to "in transit" sequence. The dates went from 2/5 - 2/15 when ordered to 2/23 - 3/15, but have now firmed up as 2/27 - 3/3.

A four day rental opportunity presents itself when we should expect spring like weather. I haven't explored what is available to me locally, but it would be cool driving something totally uncharacteristic.

Assuming you knew what you were doing, how can disconnecting errthang then taking an engine hoist to raise the engine six inches take 21 hours?

The whole front end has to come off because of the "snub" mount

I find it somewhat unbelievable that somebody's wife or girlfriend does not have some kind of derpmobile that is flying under the radar. Mrs. Ron's Saturn Aura would have demolished this contest if she was still driving it.

Although...

My in-laws are still driving it to this day and it is still in perfect running shape, all features/accessories still work like new, etc. 13 years old this year. :iono: :notbad:

This is true… I would say shitbox is either a soul less vehicle that is something that you can park in sf overnight without worry …
or something that has a ton of miles and still needs a lot of work and will likely never end up on BAT, say like a 300k mile M3... or S4 for that matter. You essentially would be a fool to spend 40-50k to make a 5k ride into a 20k ride.

So the current list is strong …

Right but part of the etc. means having their souls sucked dry with every turn of the key, which they are of course oblivious to. The Saturn Aura makes the Benzo and the TSX look like interesting cars.

The one thing the Aura has is the 3.6 V6 with 50% more displacement driving the wrong set of wheels :disgust: while the TSX is stuck with the RACEKAR 4 banger of doom.

:howdareu:
It was :notbad: in its day (the aughts). It was heavily based on the then-new Opel Insignia, so it had some Euro bona fides. Once GM killed Saturn, the line shifted to Buick and became the Regal and TourX, discussed earlier today.
