the EX civic is far nicer inside... and costs 10k less.D Griff wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 12:03 pmI still think they look cool. And they are $50K about tire store bros driving them, they normally have clapped out NA/NB Miatas here.max225 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 11:38 am
Hype R does drive decent mainly because it is a giant car with a long ass wheel base. I would downsize the 20s to 18s with some actual tires if I was to ever get that car.
The main issue on the R remains the useless WANG the useless body cladding and fisher price mismatched interior.
It has civic LX BLACK cloth seats in back and RED AF suede seats up front... no thanks. That's for a 22 year old branch manager of a local tire shop or something.
The back seat is definitely a pretty noticeable item of cost cutting.

I think in reality it is like $20K less... but I have zero interest in a pedestrian Civic. You have driven a Type R? It is one of the better driving cars I've experienced - amazing brakes, steering, shifting, also fast.
A Civic EX is also nicer inside than a Ferrari 430 that makes them comparable.

it was a comment around the fact that honda clearly has better seats in the SAME car that is 20k cheaper why "Cost cut" the R?D Griff wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 1:16 pmI think in reality it is like $20K less... but I have zero interest in a pedestrian Civic. And yes agreed on R comments.

What's not to want? Affordable, reliable, efficient, nice overall package, fun driving variants with decent power options, it's a pretty ideal vehicle for someone who doesn't need something massive. It's pretty perfect for what my needs are shaping up to be.
My list I'm keeping an eye on and hope to get to check out and evaluate over the next few years in order:
Civic Si (next gen Hype R is )
GR Corolla ( could strike and get me in one of these this year, but unlikely)
Elantra N (maybe Veloster N, but they seem pretty rare)
WRX (FE sucks and Subaru giant screen is meh, but whorange so it's on the list)

I have coveted a Hype R for quite some time but I'm too much of a cuck to have one. This isn't news.
Max also really liked it IIRC other than the looks/back seat.

Even with the wang it's shaping up to be (just needs smaller wheels)

It is interesting. People that buy this type of car are generally into bicycles. Forever people have bitched about center exhausts for this reason, and yet it continues to be a design thing. I guess take a different vehicle biking or use a roof rack? Still
But overall, the new Hype R is looking promising. Surprised they haven't revealed the production version yet.

Yeah it's not a breaker, I would've bought a 2020 version if A. prices weren't insane and B. had been down... there are other ways to carry a bike. That said, roof racks SUCK in comparison to hitch in every way other than scene points.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 10:31 amIt is interesting. Yea, trailer hitch is vastly preferred agreed. Just not gonna happen on things like the Hype R or GR Corolla, sadly.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 10:45 amYeah it's not a breaker, I would've bought a 2020 version if A. prices weren't insane and B. had been down... there are other ways to carry a bike. I rarely see SUV drivers using the rear wiper, it's crazy how little people care about visibility in the US.
So why would an OEM spend money to put them on more cars?
