This is indeed awesome but also a bit :butwhy: ... if I was going to do all that work, why not start with a good car?

The wheels being .5" wider and having a lower offset makes such a big difference versus what's on my car. My wheels look SO sunken in by comparison.

Me too :sissyfight:

I do kind of miss a convertible, but it's nice that it's a 'real car' that can transport the dog and shit.

Great episode. The only car I really miss is my NC miata. I sometimes wonder if I should have bought an ND miata over the BRZ. They are way more fun. They're just a touch too small. The NC was probably my absolute limit, the ND is a little tighter, and I was 22 when I had the miata. I'm less accepting of being uncomfortable now.

Let's see how the ND3 shakes out, and then the NE miata. I could maybe make a soft top ND3 work, but the RF is totally out of the question. I would prefer it, but that 1-2" less headroom is the deal breaker.

They're just so expensive now. It would have been $6,000 more for an ND Club w/Brembo over a Limited BRZ.

I don't know what size you are, but you're right, they are tight! I rented an ND RF on a work trip last year and it was just kind of annoying. I love them and if it was purely a toy for me, I'd heavily consider over the 86, but you can't even like drink a cup of coffee in one or take a weekend trip with your partner in a Miata. 86 can take me, the wife, the dog, and several bags of shit no problem. The practicality just can't be compared and when the top is up, a Miata is downright claustrophobic to the point of not being enjoyable to me.

I'm only 6'1" but mostly torso so that's part of it. I also had a Miata around 22/23, an NA. It was both more spacious than an ND and also not something I think I'd go for as a mid thirties person.

That’s exactly what I was getting at. At some point things become too small and too “light”. The Miata is a glorified go cart for the street which extremely limits its usability.

Hell even driving to a fun road may be terrifying in the land of suvs, sardined in a 2300lb tin can with a tarp over head.

It may be 30% more fun on a canyon road 1x a month but in the end you can’t even put a case of water in the trunk.

Sure i get it, they are small. but its totes doable for a couple to pack for the weekend and put the things in the trunk.

Living with the BMW for a few months...its not THAT much bigger. IE a trip to the grocery in the beemer is just a big a pain as in the miata.

honestly, its old, its softop, and its $$. If you were to do such a thing, get a PRHT model.

That's because you bought a convertible with a hardtop that folds into the trunk. I have a gaping hatch on my BMW and I can assure you it is not like a Miata.

I'm 6'2", all torso. I can avoid my head on the roof of the soft top with a bit of a gangster lean. The RF is impossible unless I slouch the whole time.

BRZ/86 makes a lot of sense if you have a 2 car garage. We have 3 (wife's RDX, my Bolt EUV & BRZ). We would never take the BRZ on a road trip. Being a 3rd car means you can make a lot more sacrifices. I would honestly swap out the BRZ in a heart beat for something like the new Morgan Super 3 if it wasn't Porsche money. The miata would be perfect as a third car if it had just slightly more room inside. I don't care about trunk space or anything. I was hoping they'd release a new MR2 Spyder. Looks like it might happen as that FT-SE, but it's an EV coupe?

Bmw convertibles don’t have trunks with the top down … teeny. Backseat is a huge space adder.
