It's sad I know. I'm not going to make light of a situation like this. But the jobs are disappearing because of a whole other phenomenon called contraction. Like the movie, we've taken growth too far as a society. Look at government spending. You wanna see major pain, wait until those dominoes topple. Heaven forbid.[user not found] wrote:Tarspin wrote: More volume per hr, less injuries, better quality of product and less people. There will never be no people doe.
Soylent Green is people.
Eventually the dregs of society will be turned into a food source. Because what else are we gonna do with them?
What won't happen without a complete global failure is the reversion of manufacturing into a 1930's manual operation. Automated Systems are here to stay as long as electricity sticks around. Automating a factory will only prolong it's demise, that means saving some jobs instead of losing all jobs. That's the real concern. Like I said, I would gladly step down and start from scratch to give the world steady and safe growth, but it's not an option.
Also, I am not a really smart guy, if I can figure this robot stuff out I'm pretty sure everyone handy/practical can as well. It's no crazier then wiring up a car stereo or swapping out a rear diff. Programming is no harder than running a forum
