I might actually install an auto dimming rear view mirror. I’d like to replace the mirror anyway with a frameless one. The stock one is some Ali Express looking cheap bullshit with an enormous plastic bezel.

I generally agree. However the worst one I experienced recently was a fucking mini cooper. I think their lights were aimed shitty but they also had a purple hue and were just blinding. These were the stock LED lights.

Also Hondas have a lot of glare.

So looking at the white line that’s what I always did. But what’s standing out to me is how none of that is necessary in a CUV. Then you go back to a low car and suddenly you’re assaulted and it’s legit hard to deal with since so many headlights are so damn bright anymore.

I thought it was me getting old but I’ve asked a ton of people of all ages and it’s really just the technology ‘advances’ in vehicles.

I'm shocked how many people just drive around with high beams on all the time, totally oblivious. That's 90% of the problem. The other 10% are people using aftermarket bulbs that don't work with the car, misaligned headlights due to lifting or lowering the vehicle, etc.

New vehicles with properly setup headlights aren't bad. You should be above the cut off almost all the time.

It's either high beams all the time or just drl's at night. People are too stupid to turn headlights on.

Yep. I hate the govt more than anyone, but I'm almost at the point for advocating mandatory auto on headlights and auto high beams.

I flash my brights at these morons all the time and they can't seem to make the connection.

Especially the bolded. Once upon a time you could give someone a friendly flash of your high beams and they'd turn theirs off. Nowadays you just get a expression from them.

I will play slight devil's advocate/apologist here - I somewhat blame auto manufacturers. Back in 2005 or earlier, you got in a car in the dark, you immediately knew whether the lights were on. Interior was dark, no exterior lights, nada - cool, turn them on. Now, especially in a city, it's tricky to tell. The interior lights up in your face like a casino, blinding the fuck out of you, regardless of headlight toggle. Streets are filled with ambient light and the car typically has some DRLs going, so it's not always easy to know. I will admit to being in rentals and driving for quite a while at night with the lights off because they're typically on auto and I couldn't tell at all.

Not knowing if your lights are on should be a license revoking offense

My comment was on assholes who drive with their high beams on all the time. I'd think you'd notice if your brights were on.
