I'm selling my sim stuff, haven't used it in over a year and it's all in my way.

This stuff is on ebay now, except for the Bodin load cell mod for the T3PA pedals which is still available offline for $100.

I've got a Logitech wheel and pedals I bought years ago to "race" but never got around to building a rig to use them. Perhaps now is the time...

Or real racing dies and sim racing is all that's left. :iono:
I think the pros will return but club level stuff is going to take a massive hit

Arrive and drive karting should be the future. With electric motors they should be able to make them more equal if someone wants to have a more serious league, with licensing required to run the fast karts so that the general public doesn't bash them to shit.

K1 speed does this. No license requirement but they do have a height/age requirement for the adult GP league.

1 year long season with monthly GP’s for points. Whoever has the most points every 3 months wins a go pro. Etc

Only downside is sometimes the karts doesn’t randomly or they just aren’t as well maintained as others. It’s hit or miss but it definitely adds to the drama of the season. I did 3 GP’s before our daughter was born and I won 1 of them.

Yeah in order for drivers to take it seriously, the track operators will have to do the same - both by enforcement of rules and and making it cost enough to cover actually maintaining the karts.

Can't happen out here :doe: because low population density and 6 months of winter to destroy the track.

k1 definitely has levels they set the karts to.

I went once with strippthree and our first session was with a bunch of jackoffs, we
lapped them all. 2nd session was just us 2 and after I figured shit out and was hitting the limiter at the end after not being jackoffs they turned them up to 3 of 4 and holllllyyyyy shit. after talking to the guys running it on our last session they gave us full beans. changes the way you have to attack the course.

I imagine for leagues they give you level 4 but who knows.

So fun fact, every person has a profile at K1 (usually assigned to your membership card). Based on your performance against certain parameters on the track and the marshals, they usually bump your profile to “green square” which means every race is “level 4/4” of kart speed/power/etc.

I’ve had them bump me out of races where they were limiting other newbies because they didn’t want me to have to deal with them or lap them so often that their races would end in 10 laps when mine ended in 12.

Everyone in GP challenge is a green square. Usually all competitors are within 0:250-0:750 of a lap of one another in their “best” attempt.

The K1 GP challenge is about $55 for 3 races (2 qualifier heats and a grid race based on best time from the heats).

It’s still pretty expensive as a hobby but the guys that come out to GP are willing to pay.

If the karts die or are visibly underperforming in any instance they will usually give you the next GP race for free, so it’s not all bad.

Yeah that's still super cheap to go racing. Running your own kart is basically $1000/weekend all-in bare minimum.

Definitely getting into this. Been spending a lot of time playing f1 2019. Added this wheel to my rig..

https://fanatec.com/us-en/detail/index/sArticle/578

Think I'm going to DIY this set-up. Anyone worked with this material before? More expensive than wood but doesn't look as cheap. Although for about 33% more you can buy one "pre built".

yes, 80/20 stuff. it's a good product. like professional erector set. if it's in your budget I'd 100 % do this.

I don't know what it compares to cost wise vs a playseat, but my biggest complaint about the playseat is it's not as stiff as it could be, so if this is the same or less I'd go with the extrusion. they have lots of profiles too, so for stuff you want really stiff like wheel and pedals you can go with a larger profile like 15x30 or 30x30

It seems super cheap. Apparently it's stiff as hell because that was my concern too. I'm having a harder time finding the brackets and accessories than the extrusion. Looks like Grainger has it. There are PVC and wood DIY out there too but they all just look sloppy.

I may use something like this to design it. http://www.framexpert.com/

I'm looking to recreate this, which is 800 euros. Seat and wheel, etc not included. Just the rig itself. That looks like 80/40(?)

I'm using their part list and trying to buy it all individually at the moment, or trying to make a plan at least. The 40/160 is more expensive than I'd like. That thing is a absolutely unit. 800 euro asking price is making more sense.

Still want to build my own for my own satisfaction.
