The Grenadier is not a DD, at least to me. Its a toy like a sports car.max225 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 5:15 pm The new GX550 and Land Cruiser are also interesting comparison vehicles to the Grenadier... a bit cheaper and quite the lookers as well.
I think the unspoken issue with the grenadier is the height... the thing is 80" tall... for ex that doesn't fit in a lot of garages because of the door heights and it also doesn't fit a lot of parking garages... The defender is 77.7" tall and I had issues with that in Palm Springs... had to lower the car a few times using the air suspension in order to clear garages... it was quite... nerve wrecking to be honest.

The supercharged V8 will outlast the bmw motor … and the new I6s seem to be quite stout from RR. IMO the rr reliability is completely overblown … their recent stuff is quite decentDesertbreh wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 11:39 amRight but for long term hold guys you are left with a B58/ZF8 which is way better than some multiple forced induction RR shite.max225 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 5:10 pm
I hear things got better after the switched aluminum steering gear back to metal... i think around 2020? I haven't driven a Grenadier so I can't really say, but it was a strange theme with every reviewer that they essentially mentioned the steering as making the car quite terrible to drive... Curious myself..
I mean a Defender does the same shit and is quite a bit better as a daily and it roams the same price point... so Grenadier is a tough sell IMO. Especially since the company will go belly up the second the billionaire owner gets bored of it.

I doubt both of those assertions but maybe on the V8. That I6 hasn't been around long enough and uses TWO kinds of forced induction, what could happen?max225 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 11:50 amThe supercharged V8 will outlast the bmw motor … and the new I6s seem to be quite stout from RR. Right but for long term hold guys you are left with a B58/ZF8 which is way better than some multiple forced induction RR shite.

Versus the B58 which is... probably the best motor since the LS.

Cliffs? I don't have 30 minutes to watch YouTube anymore

I really loved the ID Buzz but I feel like $70K is just too much for what it is and I don't really want/need an EV as a family vehicle.

They have put it in a LOT of cars. Just got an email from Rusnak Grenadier noting it is Section 179 deductible and offering 2.9% financing for 60 months.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 12:25 pmDesertbreh wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 12:20 pm

Jason, the VW fan makes funny informative video about VW. This is really top gear quality film making fellas
He says they have had 3 eras:
the aircooled,
the water cooled (which initially almost killed VWoA) till the launched the new beetle,
And now after an almost being killed again with dieselgate
the electric era
He notes much like the watercooled era the ID.Buzz could rejuvenate VW, since the ID.4 has been on sale for 3+ years and done fuck all for sales. He says VWoA knows they need that emotional response to be successful in the US, and hope it works.
ps: i know, 30 min tubes are rare. I do it on lunch break, little escape.

The ID buzz is about 30k too much… it should have started at 29,995 and come with funky cloth interiors and a table in the middle of the cabin.
A 60k+ giant luxury van that can only run for 150 miles is going to do jack shit for their sales #s

:wtaf: vw.
My prediction these things will be 20k off minimum in about 6 months time

I never understood the need to go smaller than golf. Golf/gti is just perfectly sized for a small car. Anything smaller the mini has em beat in every way.golftdibrad1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 1:52 pm

I've no doubts that the vid is worth it, Jason makes some great stuff. I will probably tune in at some point.golftdibrad1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 1:47 pmJason, the VW fan makes funny informative video about VW. This is really top gear quality film making fellas

Not to mention, cheaper competitors aka oddysey touring and pacifica, even then 60-70k is a lot of money that will be tampered with fruit loops. Just think about the frequency of "are we there yet" when you have to charge for atleast 30 mins on the way probably more than once to see your grandma in bumfuck nowhere nebraska in thanksgiving.

I remember when they first came out, it has similar dimensions to a mk4. Having ridden in a mk5 polo, mk4 golf, previous and current gen polo i somewhat find hard to believe

I guess it’s a great “luxury” around town

I still can’t stand plug in hybrids they are trash and the Betamax of car tech

Everything is rotting on lots right now. And Tesla is still selling 500k cars a qtr and not all are landing in Cali.
I think the main reason Evs are “rotting” is price. Pandemic times when everyone was trying to get one created the illusion for oems that there is an endless demand for 100k evs which frankly is false… but I think there are plenty of good use cases for most people to drive one. And no argument from a non ev owner will ever convince me otherwise.
I have driven 1 million miles or so in ICE cars and I prefer EVs after the last 2 years and 20k miles spent in them, it as it’s the superior mode of transport for anything “non fun” and roadtrips above 300 miles one way.
Clamoring to ICE cars is the equivalent of trying to ride a horse on the freeway.
ICE is superior in one way which is sound and feel. But that’s reserved for something like a Porsche enjoyed on the weekends. Which I’m in full support of. And no ev will ever be as “fun” as an ice sports car that’s light and sounds great. But that’s not the point here
