The resale is one thing that really turned me off about them. I plugged in the Rav4 equivalent Hyundai in KBB and it was about a $5k difference. As much as I hate Toyota they still hold their value.
lease alternative was 64% residual value left at 3 years 30k miles ($31k). those are usually close to market. We have a 5-6 year outlook with this car, so buying was better and nearly the exact same money/payment. Id say Hyundai is on an uptick in customer type and value.
I definitely think they've improved quality wise and without question they provide more value vs Toyota and Honda. But I still think they're hit or miss.

You can get a great one with zero issues or one that spontaneously combusts.

Bolded one: Interesting. I see these all over and find the looks........controversial.
Bolded two: When I bought my 2017 440i, I really wanted the blue painted waxables front and rear, but to get them you had to get the adaptable suspension, which was a hard no. How much to replace?
Quoted $6k at bmw dealer, for just the front 2. It went in for its oil change pre-vacation. I paid for the overall inspection. They have had a small leak for 2 years. Its not really bad and the lower tension mounts (also hydro) were leaking.
Each shock is $950.
I added up $2400 in parts to DIY. Would have been $3k+ to have indy shop do it.
SRS Shawshank shower visit.

Both are hideous. One is better at its job than the other.

Drinking Everclear makes me drunk faster. But drinking a beer is more enjoyable. Everclear is the van, best tool for the job.

:dat:

The 2018 Honda Odyssey offers a spacious interior, particularly for passengers and cargo. It boasts ample headroom and legroom in all three rows, with a total passenger volume of 160.1 cubic feet.

The 2016 Infiniti QX80 has a passenger volume of 152.5 cubic feet.

oddy got 10 more MPG. the 80 tows more, part of the reason we got it obv. Oddy seats were easier to use, easier to get in and out of, automatic sliding doors, could seat more crotchfruit..... sure the 80 is 'nicer' on the inside but its a different class of vehicle.

:minivan: is the answer if you breed more than 1.

:thankyou: from someone who has actually owned both. These SUVs have like zero storage for luggage if the third row is up, and still way less if the third row is stowed.

I get it for towing if needed, but that requires a truck based thing which is different than say a Telluride.

That's exactly correct. If you use the 3rd row in the qx80....pack REAL light. In the Oddy there was still tons of useable room with the 3rd row in use, and the seats folded into that space to make a YUGE flat space up to 2nd row when stowed.

I find these interesting. Don’t hate them but I think I’ll tire of the design pretty quickly. They seem pretty nice inside.
I enjoy the interior. Its very nice and comfortable. Its also one of the smallest SUVs with a functional 3rd row (with rear AC) I dont love the huge screen/cluster wrap but everything went that way.

When you add up the features per dollar, its a decent value as an appliance car. The exterior certainly is polarizing. Luckily I cant see it from inside the car.

fit and finish of it all is top notch. I'd put it up there with most euro shit. Less rubbermaid appliance feeling than honda and toyota.
Yeah I mean this looks like a pretty nice place to be. The material choices in my Accord are really pretty poor. Rubbermaid is a good descriptor.

they ONLY had 100% engine failure rate up to 2017. :iono:

I think theyve gotten a lot better. They also replaced a LOT of engines well over 100k miles. How about that 3/4 cyl deactivation in GM and the 6.2 nightmare.... every OEM has their fatal flaws.

I also know this sucker has 60k bumper to bumper OEM warranty and 10y/100k powertrain. So pretty much zfg for its life of ownershit. :yikes:

Plus its so ugly you can just run er through the spinning nylon bristles instead of pondering professional ceramic vs. PPF.
