It’s blue, it’s a fancy badge, it has 615 hp, and it goes 0-60 under 4 seconds … and it costs about 1/2 of what an m3 would cost me.

Interested to see what you think of Cadillac quality. I've been really happy with my CT4, aside from some initial GM-ness.

The materials get marks for being "cheap" and they feel fairly premium to me. Not M3 level, but well above the Camaro.

Is that Coastal Blue Metallic?

Very good question. You can … call it impulse but I don’t find it as such. I never knew this car existed until yesterday … but it checked every box. It’s a better car that I already have for less money … more on this tomorrow when I do the write up.

But gm really did amazing things and hasn’t told anyone … bizzare af move.

This is a great vehicle that’s brand new 2026 model …

I’ll explain the :math: and logic then…’maybe it’ll make
Sense maybe it won’t… but it’s a complex multi dimensional equation for me

Wow. That came out of left field. I heard the Lyric was really good, this is just a bigger 3 row version essentially? I only learned this was a thing that existed like a month or two ago. I don't think I've seen one on the road yet.

Most surprising part is that you like it better than the IX?

Yea it’s a bigger lyric with 100 more hp, and a bit different interior, and imo the lyric is kinda fug in the back, where this looks like a “baby Escalade” or a Range Rover.

The it being better than a the IX is frankly shocking to myself, but it is.

Gm is completely dropping the ball here by not advertising the numerous great cars they have…

Took them awhile to figure it out, but seems like the Ultium platform is a big win?

The Equinox is starting to sell like gang busters and it's cheap. The Silverado EV is a good product, just way too expensive. All the Cadillac stuff is pretty great? Lyriq backend is ugly and the Optiq might be a bit too expensive? Oh, and their model naming sucks, but :whocares:

Pricing on some models and lack of CarPlay are the only misses now really.

So let me try and unwind some of the insane :fullretard: sitch this appears to be.

Let me start this off with I have been looking for either a "fun" car or family SUV for just about 3 months. Since selling the Taco back in January as it was neither fun or family oriented enough for my needs, and the 16mpg was making it impossible to commute in.

Things kicked into a higher gear about 3 weeks ago when the IX got hit while parked. So it ended up going in the shop and I decided that I am going to use this time and the "rentals" to try and feel out which type of car I may want next.
Shortly after that the wife also received a job offer after looking for work for a solid 11 months, and it would require us parading our leech around in an additional vehicle. As we've been sharing the IX... which led to it receiving a non sustainable 20k annualized miles since Jan.

So I started with the Expedition which I hated so much it made me swear off the entire Ford brand (I considered and cross shopped the Ranger Raptor and Bronco prior). Then I got into the Silverado EV by chance, as it was the "Free" EV available as my rental. Which very pleasantly surprised me and brought me into the brand.

I was once again reminded me that EVs are where it's at, at least for us for this moment. This lead to the CUCKWINOX.... as a total seppuku work transport vehicle... but I just couldn't get myself to pull the trigger and put yet another 3rd foot in the grave. I went on to start to look at other GM EVs. The loaded version of the Silverado or a hummer SUV were on the list... But the 200kw battery setup IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR AT HOME CHARGING. I'll spare all of you non EV owners the details but IMO this type of vehicle/battery is WAY to big for at home charging. Unless you spend $20k on a dedicated full house electrical upgrade and a near industrial charger.

So one thing lead to another and my :plac: buddy sent over a VISTIQ vid, and things escalated from there. I checked for lease deals and there were few... I was however aware of the whole "Loaner Scam" which is how my buddy ended up in a Hummer EV SUT at 499 a month all in. The local Caddy dealer happened to have had the 2 color combos in stock that I was interested in... and more importantly an EX LOANER!. So... Decided to kick some tires..
Queue yesterday... Saw the "loaner" it had a whopping 350 miles on it... all the screens have plastic on them etc. Decided to take it for a spin... And was mostly shocked.

I'll do a quick compare vs the IX.

VISTIQ
+Quieter
+More interior Volume
+3rd row (Although this is mostly for kids/emergencies)
+Better interior materials (Leather dash, metal speaker covers, door openers etc etc)
+Better interior styling, the seats, dash etc all look more upscale/nicer.
+Faster
+Better riding, the suspension tuning in this car is amazing, soft but sporty for lack of a better description.
+Tuned for the mean streets of Baghdad.
+Good turning circle despite being bigger than the IX and not having rear steer.
+Closable/openable pano roof
+Massaging+Cooling seats standard
+Better 1 pedal driving, it is easier to drive it smoothly.
+Better exterior styling IMO Subjective but kinda funny that the VISTIQ has a similar style grille

IX
+Bigger back seat
+Better dashboard layout/ergonomics. The VISTIQ steering wheel blocks part of the dash which is :fullretard:
+Better Stereo, this is a big one for me. I don't have Bowers and Wilkins. But even the HK is superior to the AKG, despite it(VISTIQ) on paper having more speakers and a better brand.
+Phone as a key works great, the VISTIQ requires the key and its kind of annoying, as the car locks and unlocks incessantly
+Slightly better camera tech. Even though it has less cameras they are better quality and the main screen is larger for the BMW.
+On board dash cam/crash recorder etc, missing out of cadillac.
+BMW app is world class, it tracks so many metrics it's not even funny, every trip economy ever made, every route, etc etc data overload. The Cadillac app is like 5% functionality. But this is mostly for the nerds.
+Exotic materials are kind of neat... The carbon fiber tub doesn't exist on the caddy.

So overall, 97,500 msrp for the BMW and 81,400 MSRP for the cadillac. They are DIRECT competitors in my book, and the BMW falls WAY short WAY short... especially for the money. Cadillac has a complete winner in my book.

Now as far as my :dill: the amount of rebates got confusing but the entire kitchen sink went into this...
5000 "loaner" discount
2000 conquest rebate (for owning the IX)
2000 dealer discount
1250 costco discount
7500 EV tax credit baked into the residual (This is some sort of :dillerman: game) but the residual is like 78% on the car which is way too high obviously.
With high cali taxes I am at 699 a month 3k drive off with 12k miles and plenty of :aintcare:

All in this is cheaper than any other car I was looking at in this segment. The Civic and golf R are about on par for actual operating costs but at 5k miles... would be far more expensive at 12k miles as I still have my "free" fuel equation here... however even without that it's about 50% cheaper to operate compared to a gas car that gets 25-30mpg.

The unspoken benefit here is it just puts you on deck for more :plac: by getting rid of the IX. What is the range on this nasty bitch?

Advertised 307 miles... I think it'll be slightly lower though. I think the IX has a 105KW battery and averages about 2.9 miles per kw... I expect the caddy to be the same or slightly worse... So with it having 100KW vs 105, I think it'll likely do 280 miles real world.

:neat:

IDK why the size of that battery gives a fuck about your home charger. Amps are amps, you have a fixed amount you can deliver with your current setup. That translates into some approximate amount of range per unit time, and as long as you dont consume more than you can deliver, WGAF?
