Ah I thought it might be closer than that. Sounds like both are good vehicles just more expensive than what makes logical sense. But if they sell them all then they’ve priced it right. Annoyingly.
I really liked my friends Tacoma. Especially the engine and coil sprung rear axle / handling. I agree the motor is hands down an improvement over the 4.slow.
What’s the actual upcharge for a GX vs the LC? Gotta be pretty close in price, no?
The GX is even more expensive than the already “overpriced” LC

Oh been meaning to ask you. Does your front end bounce up and down when you hit bumps/uneven pavement at freeway speeds. My buddies lighting does that (2024 6k miles) but feels like worn out shocks.
Ride quality is best out of any car ever but the bouncing was wild

This is how they get the floaty soft ride in full size trucks for the front seat passengers. I noticed it in my friend's lightning, while in the back seat. I also had this problem with a brand new Silverado a few years ago.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 9:51 amOh been meaning to ask you. Silverado EV
2023 Expedition POS
Both didn't do that...
It felt like maybe fraud didn't tune the shocks right after adding 2000lbs of batteries

The SUVs are tuned differently because they're never going to have 2000+ pounds added over the rear axle so the front and rear won't have as big of a difference in suspension tuning. Ford is all about keeping high payload and towing numbers so the difference in suspension tuning between front and rear can be very noticeable, exaggerating the feeling of bouncing up front.
The Raptors obviously don't do that because they aren't designed for actual working. Regarding the Silverado EV has a 500-1000lbs lower payload than the Lightning so maybe GM was able to better match the suspension tuning F/R while empty.
Maybe someone with prior Bilstein experience can chime in but I think that's generally why you and I have felt what you brought up.

Makes a lot of sense. I was actually quite surprised with how pronounced it was... I drove about 3 different lightnings but never on the freeway at speed. And I find that quite deterring for a long term road trip over less than great roads etc... then again you can't really long range road trip an ev like the lightning comfortably due to charging reasons, as it adds 30% to the travel time

Yeah, it has quite a bit of float in the front. If you hit some road undulations that just happen to match the frequency of the mass-spring-damper, you can get some bobbing up and down. The rear is more stiffly sprung obviously, because it has to haul things in the bed.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 9:51 amOh been meaning to ask you. These are all just trade offs. It's a heavy EV truck with passive dampers. It's never going to be as composed as something like a crossover with adaptive suspension from the Germans.
I like how floaty the whole thing is. Perfect for a mindless daily.

TY for confirming. I wasn't sure if I should tell my friend to get it checked out. But it seems like that's the design since the 3 of us all picked up on it.MrH42 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 10:30 amYeah, it has quite a bit of float in the front. ABRP is saying 8.5 hours of driving, 1:20 of charging. Doesn't seem hateful? Debating whether I want to even risk. It would basically be get up early, drive all day, stay in a hotel, procedure in the morning, drive all the way back the next day.
The overall ride comfort, NVH, and space are better than the RDX. Blue Cruise helps a lot putting those kind of hours in.

Yeah. You oddly get used to it if you drive it a lot? If you hit the exact right stretch of road, you feel like a bad ass pirate riding the waves.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 10:32 amTY for confirming. I will say, if you load up the bed, it feels more natural because you get a much more even ride front-to-back. Just the downside of having the ability to haul shit.

The problem is there is no way you'll be at 1:20 of charging. In a "perfect" world... yes but in practice especially with EA I have had charging rates that don't hit the "Target" I would say about 16/20 times. I would say to go from 5-10% to 80% or so would take at least 40 min... you'd likely need 5 stops? But I am not exactly sure of your route an if you can charge to 100% at your destination overnight which would greatly help cut down 2 stops.MrH42 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 10:33 amWe're going to be making the trip to Syracuse from Ohio probably in late July for IVF shit. There's a bunch of Sierra EVs here at work and also the Baja Silverado EV which looks badass.
They're revamping all the rest stops on I-90 between PA and Rochester, maybe even beyond to Syracuse. Definitely make sure they're open for your trip, but if they are the food options they're adding are pretty decent.

I'm pretty confident I can level 2 charge it overnight there near the hotel. Obviously charge to 100% before leaving.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 10:40 amThe problem is there is no way you'll be at 1:20 of charging. You're right though. I was going to plan for like 2.5 hours of DC fast charging probably? Does that seem more accurate? I would probably just top off to 80% every time, instead of ABRP saying crazy stuff like "charge to 67%".

Yep the 2.5 sounds right. Based on all my calc's its basically 30% of driving time unless you have a 400+ Mile range in the battery then it goes to 20% or less of drive time.MrH42 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 11:26 amI'm pretty confident I can level 2 charge it overnight there near the hotel. Watched it .. didn’t love the review it seemed too heavily biased to off roading and it didn’t even compare the 1958. The 4 runner is the proper compare imo even though ironically I did the exact same comparison … but the passport offers way more for the money … still maintaining that
