Johnny_P wrote: Fri May 30, 2025 9:26 am So I’m going to have to schedule a service visit for the red rocket. It’s been yelling at me every morning that oil life is at 15%. I also have a recall to take care of. It’s also been jolting a bit when the gas motor comes on. Quick research suggests this can be an early symptom of fuel injector failure. Apparently the 2022-2024 Honda hybrids have an issue with fuel injectors sticking open. Should be covered under warranty if that’s the case. Might not be anything wrong though the car drives fine.

When I first got the car I said the front and back feel out of sync around curves. Turns out Honda installed a brake based torque vectoring system on the front axle. It’s just a bit slow to react. So that’s the feeling apparently. You can watch the car scrub speed around turns because of it. Which is annoying but it can’t be turned off. Interestingly if you turn the wheel far enough the car will realize it’s in a curve and will turn the engine on so immediate power is available to exit the curve. Which is cool. So pluses and minuses.

Some things I like a lot…
-The drivers seat moves back a couple inches when you turn the car off. The car is a pain to get out of so this helps.
-If you turn safety systems off they stay off. Good because the systems suck anyway. I hope you're referencing after turning the car off and on, especially the collision mitigation
-The real gear selector is way better than the stupid button thing in the CRV. I swear honda's are spec'd weird, the 1.5t sport does get a traditional shifter, but no sunroof nor heated seats when I test drove it while my sport has that button transmission like the crv, has heated seats and sunroof on my 2.0t

Some things I don’t like…
-The car starts to fake shift if the accelerator is pressed far enough. Which ok whatever during actual acceleration. But climbing a hill it will start fake shifting and just leave the engine screaming “in gear” despite the hill leveling off. It’s incredibly annoying and I’d much rather it did not do this.
-Overall low build quality and lack of features. I think they corrected some of the cost cutting crap with the 2025 model but why doesn’t this enormous car have rear air vents or USB ports? mine feels half better quality touches for most of the thing you regularly touch, there are certainly lot of areas that are plastic. Certainly not mercedes like quality, mine had rear vents and sub(why fuck it up honda?), also pretty hilarious that i have the same front dome lights and grab handles like my 2004 acura tsx did
-This is a stupid complaint but a lot of reviews praised the “clicky” feel of the buttons on the steering wheel and HVAC. They are very loud. I find it annoying and cheap compared to the hushed damped Mercedes Benz quality buttons the CRV has.
-It’s pretty boring but there’s not a good trade off of a solid feeling or cushy ride. It’s trying to be a bit sporty but it’s not sporty to drive and the sporty look (enormous hood and slim windows) makes it hard to place on the road. It tries to be comfortable but it should ride softer. I dunno every car has to hit some middle ground compromise, I’m just not sure what the target actually was here. The CRV is terribly boring but it’s so comfy and easy to drive that it makes complete sense and does a better job at navigating this balance.
-I wish it was all wheel drive. I don’t like FWD anymore. Wheel slip on a wet road pulling away from a stop is annoying.

Overall again it’s been pretty good at its mission. I wouldn’t get it again but it’s doing ok and meeting my needs.
I addressed on some of the things you said on bolded. Overall Its pretty weird that honda can go forwards or backwards with certain features as generations "progress". Id say mine is more enjoyable to drive, fun to drive, depends on how to describe it, the 2.0t and a real auto definitely helps. Definitely does not even compare to a mini cooper. It can hug corners in a non boaty fashion as long as you're not to improve lap times nor top speed record on that corner, it kinda reminded me of the f10 535i in normal driving until you start reaching to limiting fwd factors. After driving a g20 330i sixt rental, I remember the accord steering definitely feels heavier, has more feedback feeling in comparison. Im certainly ready to :plac: but I also dont want to switch to something more of my liking just to drive 35 mph on potholed roads, my average speed is 16 mph  maybe I should lease an EV, i found my polestar 2 rental more fun than my accord.

The CRV has a horrible smell that’s developed over the last couple weeks. It’s truly awful. I changed the cabin filter which was dirty but not alarmingly so. It had little to no effect. Might need to rip the AC blower out and see what’s happening in there. Either that or there’s a dead animal somewhere in the engine bay. More to come.

Well … I had a mouse piss and shit into my cabin air filter … but you can’t usually get to the blower as an animal unless you chew through said filter.

Maybe you have a fungus growing in ac system and need to do that cleaning… it’s pretty simple

Blast the system with Ozium with the blower on high

Cleaned the car pretty thoroughly inside. Didn’t make much difference. Ordered some trim tools and AC evaporator cleaner kit.

Plan is to pull the air intake cowl apart and look for stuff. Drop the blower fan and look in the heater core for stuff. And open the top of the center console trim to check for a mouse nest. Put it all back and then do the evap cleaning. Got a charcoal filter for it too. If that all fails I’ll try ozone.

Will try it out this weekend.

The fan is 1 snap in panel and 3 screws. I can then look into the evaporator and heater areas.
The top of the console is 6 snap trim clips
The cowl comes off in 5 minutes with a trim tool to remove the push clips.

I'd try this and an Ozone machine before taking things apart.

https://www.amazon.com/Lubegard-96030-E ... &hvexpln=0

I usually would do an Ozone clean on the truck every 3-6 months, it always developed a musky smell.

If anything, some cleaner to spray on the evap core once you get it exposed is going to do some good.

If a mouse built a nest in the heater core I’m fucked. That’s full dash out. But right now I’m just trying to look.

This is the Ozone machine I have.

https://www.amazon.com/Enerzen-Commerci ... r=8-4&th=1

If you can let it run for 30 min with the HVAC on recirc and then an hour with the car off. If not able to, just do an hour long treatment and you'll see some improvement.

They usually go for the glove box and shred the cabin filter. If those are intact, that's a good sign you're mouse-house free.
Doesn't hurt to take a look all the same.

The fan squirrel cage was clean when I looked yesterday. As was the intake above the filter. Just want to check a bit more thoroughly as I did see a clump of dead grass wedged in the front subframe. That could have been just from driving but who knows.

Just eliminating all possibilities. Windows are frequently left open in this vehicle and I have two kids that love to crush goldfish crackers in their car seats. So there’s plenty of food to entice a critter to take up residence.

I'd say due to the frequent use and the time of year, a mouse is highly unlikely. Still, take a look.
Try the cleaners, I've had excellent luck with them.

Well boys it happened. 103 mpg going to work today.

CRV update. Popped stuff open looked around and found nothing wrong. Put it back together and ran some evaporator cleaner through the system. Put in a charcoal air filter. Cleaned the hell out of the inside of the car and found some pieces of shredded cheese wedged between interior panels of the trunk. After all this there’s no more stink in the car!
