Yeah, the cost of ownershit is high, especially when you consider the value floor is like $2500.
I think from aperspective, Civic Si is pretty epic. Reliable, cheap to buy new, used with 25K miles is still worth MSRP apparently. I could buy one and own it until 2030 for next to nothing.
really that exciting?

Also... I've driven a bunch of GTIs and Civics. I've owned both. Civics have way better manuals than GTIs, this has been true since at least the mid 90s, I haven't driven earlier ones. Also, Japanese cars in general just have better manuals than Euro cars do.
BMWs have some of the worst, VW is typically a little better IMO, but still not top notch.

I mean it’s the same as my accord which I think is perfectly quick for a DD but I wouldn’t say my car is fun. The hybrid system is alright but not an enthusiast choice.

It's still better than a soulless Camry.

Just got into this with an industry friend who has a Tesla. He said it could smoke my 328i. Like yea man, it could, but you drive a microwave. I like home cooked meals prepared from scratch, you want a TV dinner frozen meal. Which makes it funnier if you knew the guy. He doesn’t cook and literally eats that shit, while I’m resident chef in our neighborhood. I then proceeded to list cars I would rather drive than a Tesla. After 40 cars he said he finally got it.

I think it depended on the exact car. Its like 8 bolts to get the battery and the tray out the way and give easy access. All you mk6 mf's maybe didn't but im pretty sure on the mk4 you did have to remove.

157k on a Tacoma means bushings and shit are likely worn out but you have no idea because they drove like a turd anyways, but a 157k mi performance European car has likely had control arms and shit replaced at least once already so it likely drives pretty decent.
Sold for $16,250 + 5% fees so just over $17k.D Griff wrote: ↑Tue Apr 29, 2025 11:52 am Been watching this S4 and man... tempting https://carsandbids.com/auctions/92oVg2 ... ref=lr_1_2
Curious to see what it goes for and contemplating throwing in a bid. This would be an epicride for $10-15K.

Ah, I missed that it was round trip and just wanted to make a joke about an old Audi breaking.
Specifically an Audi... although your comment stands. I wouldn't consider a 2014 Japanese or 'murican car that old

Ultimately why I bought my accord which I never really need to think about. I can’t waste brain cells on cars right now.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 9:57 amSaw that... not a badreally, but I don't think it's for me.
I feel pretty stressed right now between work, baby, marriage, life... think I'm just going to roll with the Supra so I don't have to waste time/brain real estate on this. Give it 2-3 weeks and it'll be back on the table I'm sure
