A lawless society where people are free to shoot up schools? Oh wait, schools would have to exist for that. You going to off road the Miata through the woods once the roads rot and don’t get rebuilt? ‘Taxation is theft’ is literally regarded. I can respect someone having the preference of a fiscally conservative government… but anarchy?

I can't stand em... US politics are brain rot. Overlords don't ever tell us the truth and we're just in fighting like dumb peasants with pitchforks back in 1450. But taxes are awful. 50% of the money being grafted by entities that can literally print it is in fact theft.

Gotta love when a car forum turns political! A Miata owner and a GR86 owner battling out over American politics. The Japanese would be proud.

These positions are more about fed gov. We of course need state and local to do these things, and I support that they need doing and am willing to pay reasonable taxes for the same.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 7:33 pmSo what exactly do you propose, Brad?golftdibrad1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 3:56 pm We decided there were too many fucking harris signs in the neighborhood and some feelings needed hurting

People aren't free to shoot up anyone now - that would be infringement on their rights to live. I mean maybe we should have armed cops in schools...oh wait a lot of places do. Has helped. Guns are not the problem they are just an (effective) tool. PEOPLE are the problem....maybe we should try to make less shitty people. Lots of good guys with guns keeps bad guys with guns away. Reference: California, as a whole on the US microcosm. Reference USA vs literally any other 1st world country - we have similar if not lower violent crime rates with few exceptions.
Schools should be state local and the DOE shouldn't exist.
MUH ROADS. Gov doesn't build roads, they just fund them. Again, where in the us constitution is the authority for federal road shit? Cite chapter and verse plz.
Taxation is theft. Its literal force taking your money at gunpoint. If you don't pay for long enough eventually men with guns show up and take you to jail. Some level of taxation is necessary of course, but the spending should be carefully considered because its always theft. We should definitely not be giving it away via foreign aid, wealth redistribution schemes, etc. etc.
I'm glad my sign triggered you and now has given you some things to ponder on.

re: the gun thing, while I'm very much not into it, I don't really have a problem with people owning guns within a controlled and reasonable environment. However, 250 years ago, I don't think the founding fathers were thinking of assualt rifles and the like. I don't think we should have enormous and easy access to devices that are built solely for the purpose of annihilating human life. No one is trying to 'take away' anyone's clays/bird hunting shotguns or those sorts of things. What is the benefit to the world or any individual in civilians owning mass murder devices? I think anyone who is for that is a little wonky in the head.
Agreed that more focus should be on creating decent humans, but tough nut to crack for sure.

Guns rights were never about hunting, they are about personal protection and the larger protection from tyranny of the government. The literal purpose is to annihilate life as you so put it. The literal purpose of the 2nd amendment is to allow the PEOPLE to possess, train with, and if forced to use said weapons of war. Its the ultimate check on a tyrannical government. It does come at a cost, but I fear more what our government would do if we were not a well armed populus.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed
Don't like it? change the constitution. Good luck with that, and the civil war that follows.
Also, the founders were well aware of where firearms tech was going. Prototypes of both cartridges, semi auto revolvers, and mounted machine guns existed.

The idea of protecting yourself from the .gov with an AR is a little silly, isn't it? If it came down to it they'd fly a reaper over your house and either put a wall of lead through you and it or just drop a bomb on your head.

worked good enough for the Taliban, the viet cong, argentinians in the falklands war, etc etc.
Also, at minimum 50% of the military is on the side of liberty. You really think their simple non-participation / disobeying of unlawful orders wont absolutely cripple that machine? If you do, you are wrong.

Check out the Serial podcast on Guantanamo. Military bros are just brainwashed cogs for the most part. All due respect and appreciation to them, but the machine knows how to get them to toe the company line.

I am not. Sure, some are, and regular infantry...aint too bright. But you seriously think a college educated air force captain would follow orders that involved firing on americans? If you do, you dont think.

Sure, let's have armed militias and rebel groups with military equipment equivalent to our actual military. Let's let them run for political office and have self-governed territories. Sounds a lot like Hezbollah or the Houthis. Seems to be working well for them, let's try it here too. Fuck it!J-Ho-Fo-Show69 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 10:43 amSounds like you’re arguing for the right for Brad to have a tank + one of those Obama drones!

Truth is, I don't know, but I think 90+% of the folks who are the ones actually holding weapons just follow orders. Check out the podcast.golftdibrad1 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 12:01 pm![]()
