I'd also include a globe and make them learn there are other countries outside of North America.

It’s a big country. Places like San Jose for ex aren’t exactly well known. And it’s a bigger city than San Francisco, Charlotte, Nashville, Washington, Detroit and Boston.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 3:23 pmThat is some exceptional geography knowledge retardation.D Griff wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 2:09 pm

Yeah, it's not happening. Sonos is based out there and I'd be interested but their equivalent jobs pay less than $120KDesertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 2:19 pmYou would literally need UNLIMITED money to live in SB. The wine country to the NW/Santa Ynez Valley isA REALISTIC Central Coast wine country town to live in would be Paso Robles assuming remote work/traveling salesman life.

You need 5x that to own a house there. Especially once the state takes a 55% cut of your pay.D Griff wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 4:29 pmYeah, it's not happening. Sonos is based out there and I'd be interested but their equivalent jobs pay less than $120KDesertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 2:19 pm

I am actually not that big on Santa Barbara, I find downtown to be infested by
zombies. Which is not ok when

I could roll out my door to incredible cycling/hiking every day. A walkable downtown big enough to have a lot of dining options and such while small enough to be charming. Steps away from the ocean. Access to great roads, wine country. LA is close enough to use the airport, have access to big city amenities. Amazing weather. It is literally the perfect place to me. Hence why a bungalow is 1.5 Millie. I’m not doing it, but I wish I could.max225 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 7:28 pm I am actually not that big on Santa Barbara, I find downtown to be infested byzombies. LAX is a 2 hr drive without traffic and there is always traffic so it’s quite a shit show every time you do international … although there is a regional airport
The weather is amazing for 10 months out of the year and you have the possibility of burning down to a crisp during fire season.
Geographically pretty region yes.
But I would much rather San Diego or Carlsbad. You get all the same weather with much less fire danger, much easier airport access and a lot more city stuff to do. But still with some bums in some places… just about the same price also.

Main stream media waking up to the biggest fraud of our generation.
The path to wealth should never be waiting on grandma to croak who did nothing but work as a secretary until she retired at 45. And now she’s leaving you a family farm purchased for 2 peanuts and a half eaten quaalude that’s now worth 20million

Man,,, not to get morbid here but my dad and his mom are kind of in a race to die ATM. He had to give up being his executor because his brain isn't all there anymore. His sister who took over is rather sus and I worry that if his mom outlasts him, she would not give the 1/5 (five kids) to my mom. Grandma lives like a total poor, lives in a basic bitch ranch just like mine but not updated since the 80s but in a worse area, drives (well drove until recently) an '02 Camry, favorite restaurant is a Whopper Junior at BK but has this legacy Exon secretary millions.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 6:50 am https://fortune.com/2024/10/03/boomers- ... st-losers/#

I hope my mom gets her hands on some of that because she my parents are forking out some major cash for my dad's care. It's much like having a kid, you basically have to pay $30/hour any time you want to leave the house to get a caregiver... plus medical bills and all that. My folks are not wealthy, like I think they have $600K and a $600K house they owe $200K on. Not exactly set for life when my mom is super healthy and probably has a lot more time to have a good life. She still works kind of, but my dad's care takes up most of the time. Fortunately she is self employed and can kind of work as much/little as she wants. Her hourly rates are good, like $100+ I imagine, but it's not all that much when you work 10 hours/week.
SD is cool but my preference is really for a small city, I just love being able to walk/bike to everything. I'm sure areas of SD do offer this though. Definitely agree that some of those OC beach communities are super nice as well. Even LA, if you can just live in Hermosa or somewhere like that and don't have to frequently do much outside of the immediate area, it's pretty dope. I spent way more time in CA 2014-2018 though, so it also might be different in some areas.max225 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 10:30 pmOcean is cold and full of oil rigs which pop oil pebbles onto the dirty beaches you think it’s a rock and it’s just a pos oil “pebble”, it’s not truly a swimable place https://www.independent.com/2023/09/17/ ... hes/?amp=1D Griff wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 8:11 pm

Obviously any of these require being rich AF so probably not going to happen.
Your fire point is well, on point. Same goes with trying to live on the Carolina coast now though, every September-October, you have to worry that your house might wash away at any point.

I'm pretty lucky having had the opportunity to see so much of the country, most people just don't know/care.
Part of our business is these brick and mortar 'Partner Stores' we have throughout the country, so I go into a lot of them to meet with customers. I chat with our counter sales people, who are pretty much blue collar types, and it's wild how most of them have so little perspective. I was at our PA location recently, which is maybe 15 miles North of Philly, and one of the guys had never been to Philly

Usually the primary and secondary beneficiaries are all spelled out in the will. However, usually parents don't assume they might pass after their children. My mom passed before her mom, but my mother's siblings decided to give me and my brother my mom's portion when legally they didn't have to.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 7:08 amMan,,, not to get morbid here but my dad and his mom are kind of in a race to die ATM. It might be worth talking to them about (as uncomfortable as that might be)
You're looking out for your mom here, it's okay to be a little assertive.
