Sometimes I wonder why PPF is all the sudden a thing.
Cars haven’t had it for 100 years and now it’s all about those stickers applied by a 18 year old vape artist that look like absolute shit about 5 years in… If you keep it that long. And they cost 4 Michelin star dinners for 2 …
My only had 14k miles and it had plenty of rock chips on the hood and front bumper.
When I do need to get it reapplied I will definitely not be going back to the detailer of doom.

It didn’t stop you from getting 90% of sticker and you had 0 venting sessions online and 0 visits to DOD(retailer of doom) . Seems like a solid option

I'm happy for Brad because nobody jerks it to the Miata harder on this forum and that is the Crown Prince of Miatas.

Assuming the ppf is done right, I think it's perfectly fine to get on the car. Doing full front on an expensive car isn't a bad idea. Getting the entire car wrapped is probably excessive.
Didn't Tar have the front of his done and it looked flawless after a ton of miles?

but we’re like 3k miles apart and I possibly had a car totalled by a PPF/tint shop… you had your share of issues … etc etc etc they are terrible

Other than a few initial issues. Some folded areas got dirt, and I just razor'd them off, I had zero issues on the Camaro for 1.5 years.
It held up to a pressure washer and did wonders to repel bugs and dirt.

I don't get a lot of rock chips in these parts so I really don't get the PPF craze but MMWV if I was constantly taking rock strikes.

Every car I've had gets rock chipped to hell. Throw in some track time and the value for maintaining the paint is worth it to me.
I think track time and where/what highways you're driving on make the biggest difference. It also comes down to how much the car is worth to you.
It's a big expense and seemingly can be a pain, so not something I'd bother with on an appliance car.

You've got those smooth california roads. Seasonal changes and constant road repairs up here mean lots of rocks.
Now with my vinyl stickers I'm all about driving on the highway anymore.

I’d never track a car near and dear to me. Unless I had no other cars in front of me etc. that shit destroys cars

You may be right about the seasonal changes, but the smooth part, nah.

I mean the flipside is what is the point of owning the thing if you're not going to get out and enjoy it in whatever that looks like to you? Tracking is def expensive in every way, fees, wear/tear, consumables... but, it's the cost to be the boss.
That said, I have realized the GR86 is kind of too expensive for my personal tastes to take out there. I also have just kind of shifted my interests to other things.
