Nah... I am not that serious about it... I like the car a lot but in a lot of ways (utility, 4x4, ride quality) the Hype R is a downgrade over the taco. And I am not doing a 3 car life. I would love to have a fun car that handles well and has major utility (room etc) as with the civic. But I fear in my current state of life it just won't get enough use.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 12:15 pmHave you put out any feelers to ?max225 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 10:45 am So another Hype R update... seems like Honda raised the msrps $1000 from 45ish to 46ish... that said based on the forum bros it is POSSIBLE to buy at sticker or about 3k over. This is a huge departure from 15k-20k over a few months ago... it has steadily been going down.
Interestingly enough and as expected the used pricing has really dipped... and you can get one for under 50k all day.

Still above sticker...but coming down to reality. It still seems like a really expensive proposition for what it is... but Honda/Acura is building quite a few of them to satisfy demand.

I don't understand this entire segment and the fact that it went viral. Just screams poster child of "ev hate" to me.
Clearly it was just some broken chargers, but Tesla actually has 99+ % uptime. Arguably higher than any comparable gas station. I'll give tesla shit any day of the week for what they deserve to get shit for... but their supercharger network is def NOT one of those things. It is superior to any gas station experience any day of the week.

I think this entire forum contributed... IMO a fun car to be used on the "weekend" is great in manual form. After having 1000hp EVs... there really is no point in straight line speed... in an ICE car, DSG+ZF8 can go eat a dickGberg2119 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2024 10:45 am take rates. Max is part of the 1.4%

sound + feel + handling+looks are key the rest doesn't matter. Unless something is egregiously slow... (sub 12lb/hp)

I am not sure who is doing the whole building of the toyota. But toyota doesn't build to order... they probably give subaru a preset # of manuals to build and that's it. The stupid "allocation" game in buying toyotas is horrendous.
Indeed, I ordered a manual BRZ (delivered to dealer in January) and then bought a GR86max225 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2024 11:31 amI think this entire forum contributed... Voting with my wallet was definitely a factor in buying one of these cars, I hope they continue forward.

I had a 2017 Silverado quad cab z71 2LT - so basically a TRD Off Road, with nav, leather, bells and whistles.
It had a lower MSRP than the TRDOR I put together in their configurator and it wasn’t even maxed out.

Yep the new TRD OR is around 55k with most packages ticked and 0 accessories. Somehow there is now a "spray in bed liner" for the composite bed + there is 3k roof rack... Toyota became completely unhinged from reality IMO and is going to HAVE to discount this... the gap between my truck in the new TRD Pro will likely be 30%. I had about a 48k msrp.fledonfoot wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 6:30 pmI had a 2017 Silverado quad cab z71 2LT - so basically a TRD Off Road, with nav, leather, bells and whistles.

The point is a zr2 is around 53k well equipped and a bro 4x is in the 40s still. There is no justification for a 60k+ Tacoma even in this super rich economy. It has always been a value truck for the poors

The Frontier is an exercise in designing a vehicle for IQS ratings. After 20,000 miles mine (and several others at my dealer group that took advantage of the epic lease deals) fell apart. The rate that it started to just wear out from direct input was amazing. It turned into a creaky rattlebox with fading plastics, separating leather stitching, delamination of the nav and cluster screens, all right at about a year of use.
The SR/SR5 trims still exist, but $55 is the new $40 for mid sizers.

All cars got wicked expensive. The only way they’ll change is if we and everyone else stop buying until there’s cash on the hood, which seems to be in progress.

That’s really sad because I think the frontier has always been a budget friendly durable pick against a taco. Like you didn’t really go wrong by picking it you just didn’t have the badge and street cred.fledonfoot wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 12:26 pmThe Frontier is an exercise in designing a vehicle for IQS ratings. All the speaker upgayed talk in the BRZ86 thread has be buying stuff for the BEATR. Just bought a D2 S8 (Ronin style) amp, which is plug and play. That'll get me from 80w total to 200w. The tough part is trying to find a 6.5" subwoofer that is designed or optimized for an open air/Infinite baffle mounting that isn't dummy expensive.
