You don't want to be a beta tester for ChatGPT as they probably scrape and record everything you say in the car?coogles wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 12:40 pmGberg2119 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 12:14 pm Yay! ChatGPT is coming to cars just like everyone wants!!
At least the Mk8.5 GTI looks good. They made it a point to show buttons are back along with backlit climate controls for those times when you want to change the temperature or adjust the volume at night.
Fuck you, VW.

And climategate was one of the most overblown things to hit vw. I really liked the gti and almost bought it… except the dealer wouldn’t let me as it got traded to another one …

A CTR is 50k (current going rate) and a GTI can be had as low as 30. That's an enormous gap.
They're auto only after this year too. So I guess technically the last 2 hot hatches standing are the CTR and GR Rolla.

I am traveling to meet a buddy in New Zealand next month. We are renting a Defender for 1/2 the trip. Audi Q5 for the other 1/2.

Right hand drive will be interesting. Curiously the shifter location makes way more sense for rhdDesertbreh wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 2:12 pmI am traveling to meet a buddy in New Zealand next month. We are renting a Defender for 1/2 the trip. Audi Q5 for the other 1/2.

Yeah not sure what the fuss is about they didn’t fix what people were upset over.
I appreciate less gloss gross plastic. Especially on the steering wheel. My CRV has that all over the wheel and it looks terribad now after 2.5 years of abuse.
I dunno. A part of me still likes the GTI for what it is. DCT and all. But I’d have a hard time picking one of those given my life situation now. And given used BMW 3 are at price parity and pretty reliable.

Well Max, until you brought that up it did not occur to me that I was going to be driving on the left side of the road there. I did in Ireland for a week and didn't find it too troublesome but totally spaced that.max225 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 3:11 pmRight hand drive will be interesting. Yea New Zealand is interesting... sometimes they have Japanese imports down there and it's fucking confusing as shit because the wiper stalk and turn signals are swapped... so I kept hitting the wipers every time i was trying to make a turn in the CX5 rental I had down there. I didn't realize how much muscle memory that particular thing had for me. I never had issues being on the "wrong" side of the road. But I cussed at every turn.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 3:40 pmWell Max, until you brought that up it did not occur to me that I was going to be driving on the left side of the road there. That happened to me in Bahamas. We had some piles of shit Japanese imports. They yelled at us in Japanese every time we started the cars. Couldn’t figure out the radios. It was Hilarious.max225 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 3:54 pmYea New Zealand is interesting... sometimes they have Japanese imports down there and it's fucking confusing as shit because the wiper stalk and turn signals are swapped... so I kept hitting the wipers every time i was trying to make a turn in the CX5 rental I had down there. Prius appliance update.
Had the car 3.5 months. Driven 8500 miles. I have filled it with fuel 6 times, 9 gallon fills. I charge overnight at home and again at work, 48 mile commute each way.
Now it’s in winter, EV range has dropped from 42-45 miles per charge to 34-36.
It stands out as a fucking fantastic commuter appliance. It’s also relatively quick and is marginally entertaining on the back roads. Everyday Driver on YouTube chased a GR86 around on a track with surprising results. They’re not wrong about it. It’s a shit basic stereo away from perfection.
Also absolutely fucking nailed the timing for the trade on the Frontier as the $300/mo 18 month leases started coming back.
They still haven’t sold the truck and have it listed for $2500 less than I got for it and they put $900 of recon into it
