Less of a weight difference between the NA/NB and NC than between the NC and 86, :doe:. It's still light af compared to any other car on the road.

Evos are cool, but I don't love the Evo X, so if you're talking an VIII or IX, you're dealing with old car problems on something that's far more likely to have been abused and broken than a S2K of the same age.

If I'm going to put my kids in it I'd rather have a VA STi, much safer than something older. If I'm going to get something purely for how enjoyable it is to drive, it's S2K. Reality is I will be doing neither, though.

$9k 64k mile NB with a full mazdaspeed drivetrain swap and other tasteful upgrades. In PA in case anyone is interested.

Would be good I'm sure, but I'm gonna hang onto the 86 for a good while. :like:

I love Evo 9s. But yeah the 10 never really did it for me. The VA STI is pretty close to an Evo 10 but with a real dealership network.

I've never understood that critique. It's 400 pounds lighter than the 86, it's in no way a boat. :iono:

Really, though, if I were to ditch the 86 there are only two realistic options - a S2000 or a STi.

*other bullshit*

It's also way more usable, comfortable, and modern for generally similar money. I can't fit in an NB period. They're lighter than any other production car from the past 20 years that isn't another Miata.

Same. The 9 was the last and best expression of the 4g63. you could get 400 reliable AWD HP with boltons and a tune.

wait YOU dont fit into an NB? you are like maybe an inch taller and 100 + lbs less. I figured you would find it "cozy"

I’m only 6’1” but short legs and all torso, my head is in the roof in the NB, I can fit in the other generations but it’s a squeeze.

I do love the extra practicality and room of the 86 but I miss the drop top a bit, it’s a like Camaro/bunker like in the 86.

Daym that blows. When I was looking at my 1st miata, i was wayyyy to fat to fit into an NB. Barley fit in the NA. now the NB is cozy but i fit comfortably, but the seat could be a scooch lower esp with the hartop on. So anyway, i consider that a win.

The ‘foamectomy’ really helped me get more comfortable in my NA.

:dat:

For my use case the 86 isn't really an more practical than a Miata. If I'm going to have something that only fits two people, it might as well be a convertible.

Good friend of mine with the NC is built the exact same way. Dude does not fit in a S2K to save his life, but he can sit low enough in the NC to fit. When I drove his NC I didn't have to move the seat at all despite him being 3" taller. My 5'6" wife and I look each other in the eye when we sit down. #teamshorttorso

I would buy that over a new one 10 times out of 10. It is a) cheaper, b) not hideous, c) not ruined with iDrive 8

Fair enough. I Just refuse to pay above sticker for modern cars. Also a F80 is superior to an m2 in every measurable way including weight

That I agree with. I would F80 over F87, F87 over F82. M4s look weird.

I hear you but it be what it be (I did pay $1K over for a Subaru with a bum engine :pout: ).

That is a sweet M2, would take.

Not to mention, they actually weight the same considering it is a smaller car in dimensions. But shorter wheelbase also means more nimble.

Thats still better than me paying for $2k above msrp on an accord with a similar engine size thats always been standard for atleast the past 2-3 decades, oh wait that is the replacement for the v6.
