Tallest midget strikes again.
The S looks good, everything else they currently make does not.
I get it, the car is a bargain. I would consider it if I had to buy a car today, though at 8% interest I don't think I would buy anything but a beater.
Car Talk 6: Best of times and Worst of Times
The S is pretty good looking, the 3 is somehow much uglier to me as well. The bulbous area that looks like it should have a grill but doesn’t… The interior is also fucking terrible.
That said it’s an incredible appliance at $30k. I see why they’re everywhere.
Oh, I didn’t see this then said the same thing

The sedans I currently like in no particular order
M3
Model S
Civic Type R
Acura Type S
M5
Caddilac CT5
Widebody chargers
Quite a short list, did I miss anything worthwhile ?

The A3/A4 and Giulia still exist for now, probably will be dead soon and the A3 was watered down for 2022 so it's no longer an AWD GTI.
If you want to pretend like you're in an SUV, the WRX is still out there.
GTI is still one of the best new cars, but now a Model 3 is the same price... tough call there.

Yea but gti is not a sedan … and a3/4 are boring af unless you get them to the S levels…Valkyrie wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 12:27 pmThe A3/A4 and Giulia still exist for now, probably will be dead soon and the A3 was watered down for 2022 so it's no longer an AWD GTI.

I suppose a type R is a hatch
Civic Si I guess is a sedan. Not many sedans left, not that I want one anyway. They're made for the opposite use case from mine: moving 3+ people around with a little bit of stuff.
I use the back seat in the mazda for hauling guitars and the hatch for amps/speakers. No one ever sits back there. Bought new in 2014, I think people have sat in the back maybe 5 times.
I kind of welcome the compact CUV at this point. I don't want one but it's what would work best for me.

Has anyone seen a "New" type R in the wild? Shockingly I haven't yet they don't seem to be at dealers long...
Are "flippers" just snapping them up and trying to rape the average enthusiast ?

I've seen a bunch in the CLT area (I guess they could be the same white, red and blue ones over and over though). Few GR 'rollas too. It's kinda hard to tell the new Hype R from a regular Civic Sport now from the front until you get close enough to see the wide fenders or wang.

Yep the prior gen are quite common. I don’t even remember the color of the new one I saw, it’s been a minute but I was excited at the time and it looks good.
I’d pretty strongly consider the old gen if I go the dumping the 86 route when the arrives. I’m not rich enough for the new new. But I think we’re leaning 3rd car, keeping “Tony”.

The "values" of the last gen are atrocious and above MSRP. IMO it makes no sense to buy used. Yes I am aware the new ones are above sticker... but it seems like the price delta is at most 10k if you shop around, and that's IMO worth it.D Griff wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 12:53 pmYep the prior gen are quite common. exactly but at the end of the day $60k+ OTD is just more than I can afford pal, regardless of how you slice the ownershit costs. I’m not comfortable plopping that down in cash or financing it at 7%.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 12:56 pmThe "values" of the last gen are atrocious and above MSRP. It’s about +5k over sticker for a hype R … pretty shitty … but flip side is … it likely won’t depreciate much and a out 1/2 the price of an M3
The only other main competitor is the golf R imo… don’t care for Elantra fakery… but yea

Well, there are only 333 of them. There are MOST DEF 333 VW Nuts who own a Mark 1 GTI, Mark IV R32, A Farenheit edition whada whada and a 23 Window bus and now this is the last piece of the puzzle. Up that number to 5000 and I'm with you on theGberg2119 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 9:28 amgolftdibrad1 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 8:40 am

There is nothing special about this car whatsoever besides the paint job and some badging. IIRC there wasn't such a huge price premium on fahrenheit's but they were limited.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 12:20 pmWell, there are only 333 of them. No one is clamoring for fahrenheit GTI's on the used market now just like no one will remember this thing existed in 15 years.

Same as the 30th anniversary... completely Then again Honda is slinging 20k Type R's per year with 20k markups... and the forum bros think it's "worth it" because "they don't depreciate" but the is all fucked... since they use sticker to calculate depreciation while paying markup to send a dealership owner to a local brothel tour.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 2:05 pmThere is nothing special about this car whatsoever besides the paint job and some badging.
