it wont increase safety: the speeder still speeds on that day. and weeks after while fine is processed.
massive opportunity for abuse by gov.
WTF happened to putting an actual enforcement officer out there to stop this shit?
Answer: they don't care about your safety just the money from the cameras.
The camera is always on bruh. Cops have to take donut brakes. And if they pull you over you just… get a ticket generally? So it’s delayed but end result is exactly the same?
Again if you don’t want a speeding ticket it’s easy to avoid one by not speeding.
And cameras are unlikely to beat you to death or shoot you.

Speed cameras that force poors to slow down also saves them money on gas so they can be less poor.
I think we should do like some countries and base the fine on your income. The richer you are, the higher your fine is for a given speed you were traveling over the limit.
Yeah wow, NO.

So Brad, you think speed limits are just inherently wrong and corrupt?
I think a lot of them are artificially low. I'm of course ok with reasonable speed limits but 45 on a 4 lane with a median and no/minimal biz connections is just painful.
wiki says its 55/60 but i know for a fact there are several 45 sections that just pop out of nowhere... with an LEO of the tiny town likely to be just over the next hill. Hell you might have taken it last sunday, so you know. And you know 60 is pretty slow and painful on that road.

If we are conceding that speeding tickets are issued to raise revenue, that's one thing. But if we are fining based on the concept of deterrence/punishment for violating the law, then the fine should fairly address the negligence at issue. Rich people are not more negligent that poor people when they go 55 in a 40.

I agree, fines based on income level is a bridge too far. you choose to speed, you accept the consequences. Pay to play... if you can't afford the ticket, don't speed.

No thanks. Plenty of poors destroy property and get away with it scott free. Like the nigerian who caused $6k in damage to my bmw. Fucker didn't pay a penny or carry valid insurance. Do we really think he will pay a ticket? Yet here we are suggesting to "tax the rich" per usual.

DFD. The forum where everybody makes the same choices and then tells anybody trying to join the club that they are the stupidest motherfucker to ever walk the earth.
but let’s be real here. There are particular demographics that will absolutely never be allowed to drive if the laws get enforced. How “progressive” would that be?

Taking the officer out of the equation makes it less open to abuse, not more... Objectivity in law enforcement is a good thing when possible. Some of those who work forces...
Also a huge cost savings for a camera versus a cop + car + equipment + whatever else.
I don't think speed cameras are needed everywhere but man... as someone who lives in an actual city and not some suburban hellscape, there are a shit ton of people walking and cycling all over on roads where traffic should be at 30 MPH and people are constantly going 2X that. Look at death rates at pedestrians hit at 60 versus 30, it's staggering.
The road design in the USofA is shit, for the most part highway limits are way too low and surface streets too high.
In some ways I agree. For instance, my local interstate is 55 (which is typical in a city suburb) and there's a good reason most people do 65. Buttt, we now have separate toll lanes on 66 and their speed limit is 70 mph. Result, more people are now driving 75-80 than before on regular roads. Not to mention we are kinda short on officers, considering we see joinfcpd on back of their cars.
Dc on other hand, no matter how many cameras there is, some people just especially they even ride my ass when im doing the speed limit in areas that i know i have cameras, thanks waze!

Dc has tons of unpaid tickets, so some poors really get away with it, typically if you dont pay nor attempt to consent, it will double, but they

Okay, this shit is just getting ridiculous. Sub-menus just to turn on and off your headlights? The auto industry is going insane.
They are just copying tesla. Imagine having to shift your trans from a screen as well and have 0 stalks even for turn signals.

Yuck.
However...
With auto headlights how often do you need to actually ly turn them on and off? I can't remember the last time I touched the headlight switch on my Mk7.
