I'll put one in tonight. Taking it on a longish drive tomorrow so we'll see if that fixes it.

The rattles in that car were so annoying. My Subaru wasn’t anywhere near as rattly. And the Honda hasn’t turned into a rattle trap either. Good luck my dude hope you nail it.

My MK7 was tight and quiet at nearly 60k. I bought my MK6 in early October, and as soon as the temps dropped into the 50s, that car rattled like something built in the 60s. I wanted to sell it within 2 weeks of driving it off the lot. My prior 13 year old 90s GM product with aftermarket mounts and a lopey cam rattled less.

ATE DOT 4 Racing is cheaper and has higher boiling points than 5.1 I believe. 5.1 offers better viscosity at freezing and below temps.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 11:19 pmWeird. The type 200 wasn’t showing up when I entered my car info on ECS. Only 5.1 and SL6.D Griff wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 4:57 pm
I've always used Type 200 - https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ate-parts/t ... N0QAvD_BwE
The super DOT 5.1 might be the new hotness though?
At nearly half the price of RBF600 makes it a no brainer.
Thanks man. That fixed it. Since I put it in I haven’t heard the rattle all weekend. Could try tucking it a bit more but
I don't think my Mk7 had any rattles and this is the only one so far on the 7.5. This one was super annoying though. I could be driving on a smooth road and I'd still hear it knocking around.coogles wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 2:27 pm My MK7 was tight and quiet at nearly 60k. Yah that’s what I did to shut that specific rattle up. Kind of janky but makes identifying and troubleshooting easier. Could get some rubber bumpers or foam weather strip or something to put on the plastic seat back so you don’t see it.

Diminished value update. I filed a complaint with PA state insurance commission a few weeks ago and my case closed today. Drumroll.........................
There's nothing they can do. . My rep said since there are no specific laws related to diminished value in PA, they can't force state farm to pay. He sent me state farms response to his investigation and it's like all their other responses. He recommended discussing with an attorney.

Since we've identified the specific part making the noise, would the still try to charge me for a fix? Probably.
Yeah. It would require me setting aside an entire day just to drive up there and let them do anything anyway. The towel works.

Right. I mean you could find some glue backed rubber stoppers or foam weather stripping or something like that, and mount it on the frame that the seat rests against. There might be a way to adjust the latch or something on the MK7, but I have no idea.
Looks like taking out the latch is more trouble than it's worth. Although it looks like another alternative is to wrap felt tape or electrical tape around the striker.

This was a common hack on the Mk6 doors and hatch lid. I did it on my 6 and it did seem to help make the doors close more solidly and the hatch be less rattley.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 12:13 pmLooks like taking out the latch is more trouble than it's worth. I wrapped a bunch of teflon tape on the Corvette targa top's hook points and it cleaned up the rattles really well, it's easier to work with and remove versus electrical tape.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 12:13 pmLooks like taking out the latch is more trouble than it's worth. I didn't know about that when I had my Mk6. I did put the vinyl tubing in the door seals which helped with creaking. That was so effective I did it with both my Mk7's too.wap wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 8:28 pmThis was a common hack on the Mk6 doors and hatch lid. Wouldnt the telfon tape get chewed up though? Although I'm only putting on the seat latch so it's not used as frequently as a door. It's easy enough I'll put some on this weekend.D Griff wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 9:45 pmI wrapped a bunch of teflon tape on the Corvette targa top's hook points and it cleaned up the rattles really well, it's easier to work with and remove versus electrical tape.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 12:13 pm

You don't wrap your door strikers in electrical tape?????
It really didn't on the Corvette but it was on the targa, not used as often as doors nor as aggressively slammed.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 9:47 amI didn't know about that when I had my Mk6. I put the vinyl tubing in my Mk6 as well, and agree it helped with creaking. I took them out when it got murdered by Fucking Stuart but so far have not needed to put them in the Blue Meanie as it is noticeably quieter inside than the Mk6.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 9:47 amI didn't know about that when I had my Mk6. I am continually amazed by the seemingly ongoing about this years later. That said I think it may be a joke of sorts now?
Time to forgive and forget with Stuart, this was a 150K mile golf, not some mint 2004 NSX or V10 R8 or something.
