A park could close at a moment's notice, regardless of insta. I just need to research what's plan b's there are if a park is closed when we get to it. I know there's tons out there, but given limited time, I'd want things to be a bit more scheduled where possible.D Griff wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 1:32 pmDesertbreh wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 12:15 pm
Relying on the Rona to give you a predictable result is foolish. Even if Yellowstone said "We're Open For the Oranj Stripper"............by the time you got there it could be closed again because some busload of morons who tested hot for the VID shut everything down again. There are plenty of beautiful drives in the West that are not remotely dependent on the latest Rona update and being mad because one of the so called "Crown Jewels" is closed makes no sense at all. I could take a highlighter and maps of the states of Utah and Colorado and give you two weeks of driving you'll never forget without touching a national park.
There is a ton to see without actually going into the National Parks. The Parks offer easy access to unique things (think Old Faithful, Zion Narrows) but there is tons of that stuff off the beaten path if you're willing to work a bit harder. Just download the All Trails app and you can find tons of cool shit all over the country in more remote National Forests and State Parks that you can just drive right into with no gate/fees, maybe a "leave $5 in this box for parking".
Also, one of my wife's friends boyfriends lost his job and she quit hers as she wants to not be a teacher anymore, they are out west now and have been in Teton, Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, etc all in the past couple of weeks.
Chris, you will hate this, but you can figure out easily if stuff is open by just looking at it on Instagram and seeing if people are posting pics.
If I lost my job, we'd hit the road instantly.

It's not driving through states that has me concerned, it's being able to see everything we want to see and/or have places to pop the camper up to crash.
We're having difficulty finding open spots just in Michigan right now, so I suspect it could be really challenging in areas with even more interest.

It's either $$$$$$ or time, but never both.

I guess we should seriously consider a trip out west. Maybe in September things will be calmer. Highly doubt the wife will be working by then, and maybe I'll be unemployed too so it'll be full blownD Griff wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 6:08 pmGO to any state run by Republicunts and it is a literal free for all anything goes.Detroit wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 1:42 pm

Reasonable to assume that most states that at in the midst of YOLOing at the moment will be at the tail end of their death spirals too.

We have been "wheelin'" in our Beep Beep numerous times now but it will never see something that serious. for a Rage4... this gen is selling like crazy, they are everywhere. Two in that boring grey on my street alone, one in the neighborhood in Max's color, even the smurf blue is everywhere. They are pretty good looking for what they are.

I am going to enjoy the end of price gouging/availability issues on certain items as the pandemic starts to ease.max225 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 4:16 pmThis thing is cool for 25/30k what an epic upchargeDesertbreh wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 4:09 pm https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/2020-M ... 5015719415

There is nothing that grand about purchasing that 180k monstrosity that is abysmal to drive and gets 7-9mpg on a good day.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 4:19 pmI am going to enjoy the end of price gouging/availability issues on certain items as the pandemic starts to ease.
Then you’re stuck with a teacup sized toilet that has a total of 5 flushes before you have to go to a meth infested KOA and hook up. And proceed to spend the night listening to your neighbors fuck after they polish off a bottle of crown royal for their 30th wedding anniversary.
I’d rather take that 180k and spend it on 180 nights at luxury cabins. And guess what you’ll probably be bored of the woods after 15/20.
