Guess I missed some posts. I thought was tied up in a shed by some banjo virtuoso.

Also... FWIW, @Troy, I think you are a much more likable person than you think. I know that doesn't make it any easier to deal with anxiety in some form of customer facing job, but I do feel you sell yourself short at times and that is part of why we gie you a hard time about your unhappiness. You may not take to some things like cycling as easily as others, and I believe that the anxiety makes being around people extremely hard. You do have a lot of skills though, I think you can outdrive most/all of us on a track, you're a great guitar player, good at wrenching on stuff, building things, engineer-y shit.
Believe in yourself, believe in the future ahead being great, and good things will come.

Of course I sell myself short. I couldn't sell a in Texas, I sure as shit can't sell myself with no formal training or experience to show in any field. Sales is my weakest skill and the most important one in life.

Lesson 1 in improving how you come across to people ("selling yourself" as you call it), and it applies here:troyguitar wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 1:27 pm Of course I sell myself short. Compliment, or at the very least, acknowledge when someone (Griff in this case) says something nice about you.
1) It's the polite thing to do and politeness is critical in good interpersonal communication skills
2) it elicits empathy which makes the complimentor feel good and may create a closed loop of good feelings
3) It's the nice thing to do. People like nice people, more than they like talented or skilled people.
