Pros to moving to Death Valley: no Covid because the high ambient temps kill the virus.

I'm pretty curious to see how 100+ feels without humidity sometime. I think the hottest I've ever felt is maybe 105 and humid.

I had a fun fucking weekend... it was 108 here, and normally its fine but you can't do work outside. I did anyways because I am moving.../fixing a ton of shit. You can only do about 30-1hr of work before turning into an absolute mess. I went through 1/2 gallon of water... while cleaning the yard/installing a stereo into a Taco.

Also the garage is at 130-140F if you park a hot car in it.

So about the same as summer anywhere East of Denver?

I don't know... "east of denver" is quite vague.

Texas is terrible in the summer for sure. No one does anything until 8pm... and then just goes swimming in a pee temperature pool etc.

It's the same temperature and feeling on the hottest days in Miami as it is in Maine. The difference is only in how many times a year it happens - and whether there is infrastructure to cope with it. Up North it gets just as bad outside and often is worse inside because buildings are not built for 90+ degree days. You get to sweat whether you're inside or out.

That's all I can assume. The thunder and lightning this weekend was straight out of nowhere. I assume you get a good amount of wind coming off Mt. Diablo?

It nearly tore out my palm tree, and the nearby pines shed so much shit across my lawns that it will take a few more hours to clean. My FULL 64 gallon trash can blew over, and scattered trash all across my lawn and my neighbors 200 feet away, and into the streets...

Also my light topper blew off and landed in the street...

Yes they are not "REAL" problems but it was terrifying up here, I can also see about 5-10 miles in any direction up here and there were 3 fires, thankfully they were extinguished quickly by the fire dep.

Just last week WHO said to put off non-emergency dental procedures "until more is known." Not sure if anyone will react but I can wait for a cleaning.

Interesting...I went 3 weeks ago. Dentist office called me to tell me that my previously scheduled appointment was still on and to come in, but asked that if I had any sort of cold like symptoms (runny nose, sore throat, etc) to reschedule the apt. Got there, everyone was in face shields with masks underneath, they took my temp with an external thermometer on my forehead and was walked directly back to the room not interacting with anyone other than my hygienist and doctor. Hydrogen peroxide rinse to start, then a normal cleaning. All PPE was disposed of after me to minimize risk of spreading. Seemed really safe, but I’m not a doctor.

was pretty much exactly my experience with my dentist when they reopened in June, temp took, peroxide rinse, etc. Oh, and I had to l out a little form asking about recent cold-like symptoms, instead of just being asked. Only other exception is that the dentist himself did the cleaning instead of the hygienist, to make it only one person i had contact with. I felt pretty safe with him wearing his N95 and a face shield so he couldn't breathe on me. As he said to me, who better than doctors and dentists offices to be completely up to speed on hygiene and PPE, etc.

I’ve felt a few lesser earthquakes before, it’s an unsettling feeling.

I used to live pretty much on the San Andreas fault line, we felt some wild ones over the years, even when the magnitude wasn’t that high, just because of our proximity.

A couple decades wife and I were visiting some friends who lived in Berkeley and we experienced a small quake. It was 3.5 iirc. They didn't think anything of it but to us it was My biggest takeaway is how loud it was. It sounded like a train going by.

Gut has been messed up for the last month or so since running a course of antibiotics from my doc. Been hitting my sauerkraut to get some probiotics going and restore my gut health, but something is still off. Adding in more veggies to see if the fiber helps, and Gonna try to do a shot of apple cider vinegar twice a day. If I’m still fucked it next week I’m gonna make a doctors appointment just to make sure there isn’t something else going on.

Had the ACV too close to my breakfast this morning and it made me puke that back up, so that sucked.
