I didn't realize the market dropped to that point. As long as I've been buying houses (7 years), offers asking for closing cost money is a non-starter. Hell, we had to waive our right to ask for fixes after the inspection on our current house to make our above ask offer more appealing.
"The market" is local. Everything we have bought or sold (or tried to buy in the case of NY) in those same 7 years went for well below asking with various concessions from the seller.
True, things are very dependent on region/location.
Just didn't realize how "hot" areas of the metro Detroit region can be.

My guess would be that Chris took some time off because he has read the dialogue on this page 1,345 times and decided to spend some of his free time doing something besides beating a horse to death.
so, I spent most of the day unfucking the garage. I have space for a car, perhaps some sqaut stands, and it's generally not a disaster. I also swaped to good wheels to the Miata.

The process of moving itself sucks slightly less than cancer, but only slightly.
Yea, I really hate it. And I've done it more than most.

This got me thinking. I've moved only 4 times in my life. The first time when I was 2 years old, the the last time 22 years ago next weekend. That seems pretty low to me.
Where are these mangos?

I don't think I could count mine. Several when I was <10 and don't really remember, maybe 6-8 during that time? Then again at:
12
13
14
17 x2
18 x2
19 x2
20
26
27
29
33 x2
So I guess 20-25 times depending on what you count. Like we lived in a hotel for 7-8 weeks last Feb-March, did that count as a move?

Moves don't count unless you're lifting heavy shit, having your life spun into organizational chaos, and paying out the whazoo.

From 0-18 we lived in the same but from 18 to now (31), I have moved 17 times.

I can't count mine. After college, I moved at least once a year until we moved to Detroit in 2013...so that's between 6-10 times. Then the 3 houses.
Count dorms and apartments in college, and that's even more...
I haven't LIVED in the same place for longer than 2 years for 16 years now.

Yep, I'm probably a similar number, and also never moved before 18.

Dang. was going on in your life between 17 and 20 that caused you to move 7 times in 3 years? Or are you counting moving to and from college every year?

Ok Dirk, then just 3 times for me then by that metric. What about you?

I think I am single digits and I moved countries.
A lot of these are totally moves
Three times I moved back in with my parents for a month or two while lining up another roommate living situation. I count them because I did the full pack up all my shit, move it somewhere each of those times. A few times I got storage units while staying with them as I owned furniture and had nowhere to put it at their house. All of that plus a new place basically every year for various reasons, since college started. Hopefully this one sticks a while longer now that we own it.
