Upright it's a two finger, but probably more then I should have at 10pm. I'm sipping slowly. How were the tacos and tequila?
Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough

Yep, that's pretty much how I found it as well. Pleasant is a good way to describe it. Not very complex, I agree, but I'd say a bit more so than, say, Tullamore. Has a bit of a nice, spicy aftertaste for me. I'm sure.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 4:28 pmHahahah totally fine! It's a Middleton so it is smooth, easy drinking, and really pleasant. Not super complex but that's ok.

I bought a shitload of single malt right before the tarrifs were implemented in MI. My favorite is a Glenfiddich 15 year 3 wood for sipping after dinner. Tried my Tullibardine Burgundy finish last night that was pretty excellent too.

Monkey Shoulder is probably the best blended scotch I've had.

This was the first time I tried it and I have to say I was quite surprised. From the nose I wasn't sure, got strong Apple juice hints, but wow on the taste and second take off the nose.
Super affordable too.

I find that I tend to not like blends, but then a friend bought us a bottle of Monkey Fist a while back and I was incredibly surprised. I've been trying more lately, but they're still hit or miss for me.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 11:10 am It's a really really great blend. Blends, in general, I think are under rated. They are strongly designed in a good way!
The biggest shocker yet though...
Trader Joe's by my in law's house in CA has TJ's labeled Single Malt. For $19.99, I picked up a few bottles figuring SOMEONE would drink it if I didn't like it (they also didn't have much else because of the virus).
They had a rum barrel and a bourbon barrel aged, I bought one of each and couldn't believe how good they were for $20.

I have all of those...and actually brought the TJs bottles back with me. I'll have to see if I can figure that out.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 11:42 amThat's likely Glengoyne, Glenlivet, or Macallan in the TJ bottles. Possibly BelvenieDetroit wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 11:17 am

My BIL gave me a barrel strength Maker's for my birthday I look forward to trying.
My buddy also gave me a bottle of Conviction, from a local distillery, we drank about half of it on my birthday and it was quite good to my non expert taste.

Cask strength stuff can be pretty brutal...but you should enjoy the Maker's...of any they do it right IMO.

I've always liked regular Makers. Maybe I'll try this weekend... still kind of trying to stay away from the drink, but I'm in a much better state mentally, so I probably can a bit.
I normally throw a few cubes in if I have a bourbon.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 3:08 pm I love love love high proof stuff. If it melts your face a little water won't hurt it at all.
