Went to a specialist today about that abnormality under my tongue. He immediately identified it as cancer. Says he hopes hes wrong (so do I mfer) but did a biopsy, tube scope up the nose , and sent me for a chest xray. MRI scheduled for Thursday, CT scan for next week. Just praying it hasnt spread and they can just cut it out and hit me with some rads. Fuck me.

Fuck man, us s are not having good luck lately. Sorry for this scary diagnosis but it's good that you jumped on it pretty quickly which is always good with a Big C diagnosis. Good luck with the scan results and keep us posted. We're here for you.Irish wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 12:53 am Went to a specialist today about that abnormality under my tongue. Also, FWIW, I know someone who had to undergo a bout of radiation and she said it was really no big deal at all. Zero pain or discomfort, just a little fatigue, so no need to worry if that's what they say you need.

Possibly along these same lines, I got a call yesterday from a nurse about my CT scan that I had last week. In addition to looking at my heart I guess they had a peek around elsewhere in my abdomen and found a "nodule" on my diaphragm. She said it wasn't necessarily serious but recommended that I get it looked at again in 6 months. As if my scary health issues plate wasn't full enough at the moment...

As a coworker pointed out to me yesterday, all these body scans are finding stuff that most people probably have, especially when they get to my age, but never know about because most people have no need to get themselves scanned. That made some sense.

It's great that we're able to do these scans for sure, but I think sometimes it can create more unnecessary worries...like this case.

Thanks fella's. Time will tell. The doc was an so I'm guessing he knows the big C when he see's it. When he asked me how old I was, I replied "not old enough to die". And he said that he didn't think this would kill me. From his mouth to ears , I am hanging my hat on that one.wap wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 11:32 am Fuck man, us s are not having good luck lately. My dad had that type of cancer. What's the prognosis?Irish wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 12:53 am Went to a specialist today about that abnormality under my tongue. He immediately identified it as cancer. He survived. He had a speech impediment from where they had to remove some of his tongue. They also had to remove a lot of tissue from his neck and upper chest.
This was 1990 so I'm sure it's less invasion now.

IIRC Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden had it too and he's still singing for them. I think it's a "good" cancer if there is such a thing. Eddie Van Halen had it or something similar in the 90s as well.KYGTIGuy wrote:

I am happy to hear that for both of us (and your entire family). Yes, I have a feeling that I will face (no pun intended) the same. It feels like my tongue is involved and not in its usual good way.

If nothing else, they've got 2 decades of research and progress since the 90's and medical knowledge and techniques advance all the time.Irish wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 5:13 pmThanks Troy.
